nausicaa83: (<disney> cooking hour)
I just realized I haven't done a proper tv show entry in a while, and I'm baking twelve muffins, so I'm stuck in the vicinity of the oven for the next twenty minutes, so on with the random entry!

First, Marvel's Agents Of Shield. I think it has finally found the right pace. The story is more complicated, less childish, and we've come to a point where we finally care for these characters (although we still know too little about their past). The latest episode was really good, in terms of structure and storyline, although the Italian setting was so badly done it had me laughing for hours. They're supposed to travel by train from Verona to Zagreb, and they say it's mostly countryside (it's not). They can see the Tre Cime of Lavaredo, absolutely impossible from where they're standing (what we see from the window is a badly photoshopped picture of the Tre Cime in the middle of the country). There are no trains like that in Italy, 'Rotaia Italia' means nothing, and the only character who talked in a slightly comprehensible italian was Ward. They jumped from Northern Italy to Puglia, then to a villa in Tuscany. Nothing made any sense, and it was hilarious. It was obviously written by someone whose idea of Italy comes from romance movies from the 50s and Eat Pray Love. XD

The Walking Dead is back, and they got Hardison from Leverage too! Although it was only one scene, who cares, I was so happy to see him. Plus Michonne is a goddess, but that's hardly news.

I also recently found out that they've been airing Almost Human in the wrong order. All the episodes are scrambled, and that's why the character development makes no sense: one week they're friends, one week they don't even talk to each other. It's not a masterpiece of a series, but it's interesting enough to deserve to be seen in the proper order. They're supposed to stop doing it after the next episode, crossing fingers here. Otherwise it'll be a disaster, it makes little sense as it is.

I really loved the latest plot twist in Teen Wolf. Well written, and a great chance for some brilliant acting. I'm glad we're expanding the mythology, and I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

Totally random, have a picture of Sakura in a paper bag:

And a picture of the chocolate chip muffins, fresh out of the oven:

They smell delicious. Now I only have to wait an hour and they'll be perfect to eat. *________*

The bug that's been going around got me too in the end. Luckly it looks like it's one of those two-day-long sort of bug, as today I'm feeling better. Yesterday I had a bit of a fever and everything that comes from having a stomach bug, but by the end of the day the meds kicked in and I got to enjoy a nice evening watching Kiki's Delivery Service with Sakura sitting on my lap. I love that movie. ♥

Even if today my stomach is fine, I thought it best to skip the gym. A couple of hours ago my neighbour rang me, and asked me news about mom. Which he had never done before, it was this elephant in the room during all of our conversations. I think that me missing that reunion the other day must have gotten him to really think about how stressful my life can be, and he wanted to apologize. That was really sweet, not to mention I'm happy to talk about mom from time to time. It is a sensitive, painful topic, but I hate it when the rest of the world acts like she doesn't exist. I'm a walking paradox. ^^"

On to more pleasant topics, how beautiful is the new season of The Walking Dead? I'm loving each and every episode! Michonne is so perfect I'm left in awe after every scene with her. The only problem is, since this time I've read the comics, I already know what's going to happen, and I've spent the last few episodes terrified of them choosing to include a certain scene with the Governor and Michonne. It was horrifying in the comics, I'm so not going through all of that again. I will break my first rule, and skip the episode if they do it. I have a mental sanity I need to preserve.

(I also want to punch Andrea in the face everytime she's on screen, this is getting annoying. Can't we just feed her to the walkers or something?)

TV episodes reviews! It's been a while since I last did one, but yesterday's episodes were so intense, I had to get some thoughts out of my head. Obviously, spoilers ahead.

The Walking Dead 2x12 Better Angels )

Once Upon A Time 1x15 Red-Handed )

I love my tv shows even if they break my heart in tandem. ♥

Random news from the last few days.

- I started and finished the Game of Thrones marathon. Apparently when I get my period I don't need to sleep that much, and my new armchair is way too comfy, absolutely perfect to curl myself around a cushion, wrap a blanket around my knees and live off tea and chocolate cookies. This series gets better every time I re-watch it, it's amazing.

- Today I went to the Post office and only had to wait fifteen minutes in line. The average waiting time there is 55 minutes, and the girl at the desk was looking surprised too. Me, I was so shocked I half expected a unicorn to cross my path while going back home.

- Currently reading The Walking Dead compendium. My brain knows how to get a hint, and I've been dreaming of zombies roaming the streets of Venice every night. How come it doesn't do the same with other fandoms? I'd like to dream about demon hunters, time lords and consulting detectives too, thank you very much.

- Yesterday I made myself a cup of herbal tea, and left it unguarded for a couple of minutes. When I came back to get it, Sakura was standing next to it, meowing in disgust and cleaning her tongue over her fur. I know I should have scolded her, but it was hilarious. I'm sure she'll leave my cups alone from now on. :D

Also, a meme! I like doing this meme every few months. *_____*

day one • a song
day two • a picture
day three • a book/ebook/fanfic
day four • a website
day five • a youtube clip

Sax Rohmer #1 by the Mountain Goats. It's my post-Reichenbach song, mostly from Sherlock's point of view, and I adore it. The whole album is great, so if you're looking for new music, I definitely recommend these guys. ♥

Sailors straggle back from their nights out on the town
Hopeless urchins from the city gather around
Spies from imperial China wash in with the tide
Every battle heads toward surrender on both sides

And I am coming home to you
With my own blood in my mouth
And I am coming home to you
If it’s the last thing that I do

Something else happened too, but I'm saving it for another entry later next week. ^^

It's here! My Game of Thrones boxset is finally here! Now I have until April 1st to do a proper marathon, so that I'm ready for the new season. *___________*

I gave up and bought The Walking Dead compendium too. Being a fan of the tv series, I stumbled in spoilers from the comic books everywhere, so I thought it was time to read it and find out the rest for myself. I already gathered the two storylines are quite different, and that makes me happy. This way one doesn't spoil the other and I can enjoy both. ^^

Finally, the Robot Chicken Star Wars Specials. I can quote them by heart, and the DVDs are at last available in Europe too. Every Star Wars fan should watch them, they're hilarious. :D

And what is probably the last piece of official Sherlock-related product I'll be able to buy this year. Now I feel like crying and reading some fanfics. But first, to the PS3! Let's see some of that ice and fire in glorious high res. *_________*

Anyone else having problems with LJ? First there was another DDoS attack, and then the flexible squares layout stopped working. I sent a support request, and I noticed many others have the same problem, but it's still annoying. Let's see if they'll fix it, I love this layout and I don't want to change it.

And now, weekly tv shows reviews! First we have Once Upon A Time! )

So, we already know from casting news that Belle is white, so guys, would it kill you to bring in a few not-white princesses? That's the only flaw in an otherwise awesome show.

Then, The Walking Dead! )

And finally, a little late this week, The Vampire Diaries! )

I can't believe I have to wait until January now. This show has the best, most excruciating cliffhangers.

I'm alive! Turns out I got a stomach bug, the whole sweet package, fever and all. I spent the last two days in bed, eating crackers and whining about the unfairness of the world. And reading a lot. But mostly whining. Today I feel a lot better. The fever is gone, my muscles don't hurt anymore, and anyway I had to go to the hospital to do a radiography, so I *had* to feel better, and it looks like my body got the memo.

About the radiography, I spent one hour in the waiting room. I was in the hospital, so there were a few patients who obviously had to cut the line. There was a woman coming from First Aid who had casts on both her legs. Well, all the persons there started complaining about it, how everyone was supposed to wait in line as if we were in a supermarket or something. God, sometimes I really hate people. We're talking old women, on stretchers, with bandages everywhere, and they're supposed to wait for their radiography because you are in such a hurry? I weep for humanity.

Anyway, next monday I'll get the results, and I'm all set until December, when I have my last medical check-up for the year. ^^

On fandom news, The Walking Dead is back! I still want Lori and Shane to be eaten by zombies, but other than that I'm loving it, especially Daryl (I know, right?)! The make-up department needs to get all the awards, those zombies are perfect. I watched the premiere while eating bread and ham, and only when we got to the zombie autopsy I realized it wasn't the smartest move ever. Note to self: no food or drinks next time.

Way to end it on a cliffhanger, dammit.

I'm feeling so sleepy lately, it's not even funny. It's probably because of the sudden changes in weather, one day it rains, then it's sunny, then it's cold, then it's foggy, and then it starts all over again. It's a lot better than insomnia, sure, but it feels like being ten again when you get sleepy at 9 pm.

Today I started watching The Walking Dead. I love 28 Days Later, so it was a must-see. First things first, great, amazing director. All the first episode was a mere masterpiece. Truly incredible. Also, great cast, especially Rick and Glenn. I just shouldn't have watched that second episode right before lunch, it looks like splatter scenes *can* affect my stomach. Who knew.

The other night I watched Hot Fuzz. I think I'm in love with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. The first half of the movie was perfect, and it was so Life on Mars it hurt, while the second part was crazy and hilarious. Already in my favourite-movies-of-all-time list, thank you very much. Now I only have Shaun of the Dead left, but I'll probably watch it tomorrow. Enough zombies for one day, I must say.
