Well, it seems I was proven wrong about the Agents of Shield series. That finale was absolutely amazing. It was clever, funny, had plot twists and heartbreaking sequences, snarky one-liners and awesome action sequences, and a beautiful atheist, scientific dialogue about death and life, and everything came together splendidly. And it got me really excited for the next season.

It was really, really slow getting here, with the first 15 episodes being a drag, but it's finally worthy of the rest of the MCU, without having to rely on cameos, but on its own characters, plotlines and character development. It's great. ♥

Plus, in case you haven't heard, they're also making an Agent Carter series. A tv show about spies in the 40s, with a woman in the lead? This is a dream come true! *_____*

Sorry for disappearing again, but I'm still getting used to the new computer. This afternoon Windows updated and the whole thing collapsed on itself for a couple of hours. It seems like I did some magic and it's now working fine, but I have this nagging suspicion it's just waiting for me to turn my back so that it can throw another tantrum.

The cold didn't go away, so I called my doctor, we changed my meds, and for the first time in two weeks I feel a bit better. I'm not out of the woods yet, and he made me promise I'll call him if I get any fever, but at least it doesn't hurt anymore, so yay. Yesterday I talked a lot, which probably didn't help my sore throat, but I went to Padova to visit two friends of mine I hadn't seen in months, and we had so much to talk about. It was a fantastic, sunny day, we had pizza and ice-cream and walked all over town. Padova is where my university is, and now everytime I visit something else has changed, it's always weird and bittersweet. For example, yesterday I found out they dissolved the Geography Department. It used to be this amazing, medieval library full of maps, but since it was just a couple of professors they thought it wasn't worth the cost, or something crazy like that, and pulled the plug. It was very depressing.

Don't get me wrong, new departments aside I had a lovely time. The weather was so warm and wonderful we went to Prato Della Valle and sat in the sun while eating our ice cream. Then we did a quick stop at the Sant'Antonio Cathedral and bought some sweets. We walked so much I almost fell asleep in the train on the way back! Not as spry as I was when I was eighty, indeed. :D

In other news yesterday we had the Winter Soldier-related Agents of Shield episode, and I found it to be unbelievably boring. Which probably has more to do with me and the fact that I just can't seem to care about these new characters. I love it when they do cameos, and find everything else really boring, especially the love triangles. To be fair I didn't even care what was going to happen to Skye a few episodes back, so maybe it means this show just doesn't do it for me.

I had the loveliest time these past few days! On wednesday it was Tati's birthday, and I pulled all the stops: there was music, a trip to the cinema, dancing, and chocolate cake, it was, in a word, BRILLIANT. To be a little more precise, we went to the cinema to watch Captain America - The Winter Soldier, which we absolutely loved (political thriller with superheroes? hard to beat!), and the cake was Sacher Torte, our favourite. As for the music, last week I decided to buy *drumroll* a ukulele. Why the ukulele? Because I'd just seen Amanda Palmer's Ukulele Anthem video and it was very, very convincing. She makes a lot of good points! Less than six hours after it arrived, Tati and I were already dueting on Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and in less than a day I learned all the chords to Science Fiction Double Feature. It's so much fun! \o/

It's a ukulele for beginners, quite cheap, but it does its job splendidly. I named it "Kairi" because good things should always have good names. *_____*

And there's a little review of Captain America 2 under the cut, for those who are interested. Let's face it, a million fics now need to be re-written! Spoilers ahoy! )

So in conclusion, lots of love for this movie, lots of questions, and for the first time a superhero movie made me think of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Good job, Captain!

I just realized I haven't done a proper tv show entry in a while, and I'm baking twelve muffins, so I'm stuck in the vicinity of the oven for the next twenty minutes, so on with the random entry!

First, Marvel's Agents Of Shield. I think it has finally found the right pace. The story is more complicated, less childish, and we've come to a point where we finally care for these characters (although we still know too little about their past). The latest episode was really good, in terms of structure and storyline, although the Italian setting was so badly done it had me laughing for hours. They're supposed to travel by train from Verona to Zagreb, and they say it's mostly countryside (it's not). They can see the Tre Cime of Lavaredo, absolutely impossible from where they're standing (what we see from the window is a badly photoshopped picture of the Tre Cime in the middle of the country). There are no trains like that in Italy, 'Rotaia Italia' means nothing, and the only character who talked in a slightly comprehensible italian was Ward. They jumped from Northern Italy to Puglia, then to a villa in Tuscany. Nothing made any sense, and it was hilarious. It was obviously written by someone whose idea of Italy comes from romance movies from the 50s and Eat Pray Love. XD

The Walking Dead is back, and they got Hardison from Leverage too! Although it was only one scene, who cares, I was so happy to see him. Plus Michonne is a goddess, but that's hardly news.

I also recently found out that they've been airing Almost Human in the wrong order. All the episodes are scrambled, and that's why the character development makes no sense: one week they're friends, one week they don't even talk to each other. It's not a masterpiece of a series, but it's interesting enough to deserve to be seen in the proper order. They're supposed to stop doing it after the next episode, crossing fingers here. Otherwise it'll be a disaster, it makes little sense as it is.

I really loved the latest plot twist in Teen Wolf. Well written, and a great chance for some brilliant acting. I'm glad we're expanding the mythology, and I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

Totally random, have a picture of Sakura in a paper bag:

And a picture of the chocolate chip muffins, fresh out of the oven:

They smell delicious. Now I only have to wait an hour and they'll be perfect to eat. *________*

The holidays are over, and all my tv shows are slowly coming back. On various degrees from "traumatizing" to "holy fucking shit my eyes". On one end we have Person of Interest, that's still trying to make me forget that awful, awful episode that almost had me drop the show. It's working, guys, but you need to apply yourself a bit more. More scenes with Harold and John, please. And I'd watch an entire series of Shaw going about her day, just saying. I still hate torture scenes, not even Lost managed to desensitize me (ooooh, it's someone new! let's torture them to see what they know!). But I'm happy with what they're doing with the Machine's storyline, so yay.

On the other end of the scale we have Marvel's Agents of Shield. On a scale of 1 to 10, this was an 11 in fucked-up. Considering they spent half a season assuring us this was a kids show, with simple plots and all, I feel like those scenes were entirely too gruesome and truly came out of nowhere. I shall sit here, stick my fingers in my ears, and think very loudly of all the fix-it fics I've read so far. Another case of "fanon is better than canon".

Thankfully New Girl also came back, and it was like a glass of fresh water in a desert town full of creepy mannequins. Just saying. So glad to have Coach back, and I hope this new development with Cece will give her more time on screen. And we really need a proper Wilson arc.

Seriously, was I the only one who felt really distressed and nauseated after that Shield episode?
nausicaa83: (<despicable me> fangirling)
What a glorious day. After dodging a couple of phonecalls from people I don't want to talk to, but I have to talk to, but I can postpone them a bit, I finally could sit down and watch the new Person of Interest and Marvel's Agents of Shield episodes.

And we're going to use cuts here, because spoilers ahoy!

Person of Interest 3x01 )

Marvel's Agents of Shield 1x01 )

In conclusion, two fantastic premieres, I can't wait for more! \o/

Remember the expression "emotional rollercoaster"? That's the best way to describe the last two hours.

First I read about Angelina Jolie and how she had a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer risk. I had that too, and believe me when I say, it is very, very painful. And she did it because she has a high genetic predisposition to breast cancer. Again, been there, living that. Words can't express how much I admire her, for putting herself on the line and talking about this topic. I've noticed most women are ashamed to talk about their cancer, because mastectomy is seen by society as diminishing to a woman. As if our value were placed in our tits. I have always no problems talking about it to anyone, and the response has always been great. Many women have written telling me they were incredibly happy to find a blog where someone like me would talk so openly about her breast cancer, because up until then they'd felt the only option was hiding it. And Angelina Jolie just did what little blogs like mine could never hope to do, bring this topic into the light, showing us there's no shame, no stigma, it is just like any other disease. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ♥

Then I found out many men on twitter were joking about it, saying that she had lost her value as a woman by having her breasts removed. We live in a misogynist world, I know that, but sometimes it hurts a lot to be reminded.

Then I watched Sunshine, that had been sitting on my computer for ages, and cried my eyes out. Holy hell what a splendid movie. It was incredibly perfect, I have no words to describe it. I'm currently dowloading the soundtrack, because wow, it's still going round and round in my head, and it's pure bliss.

Then I went on tumblr, and found a new Marvel's Agents of SHIELD trailer, almost three minutes worth of awesomeness, and I'm 90% sure they just introduced Luke Cage too. I might cry of joy here, don't mind me.

So yep, up and down and up and down my mood goes. Thankfully tomorrow it's therapy day, I am literally jumping in my seat at the idea, so much stuff to tell my therapist, I wish I could time-travel to tomorrow now! \o/
nausicaa83: (<avengers> steve's smile)
What a lovely day. Sunny, blue sky and crisp air. I had to retrieve some papers at the post office, and I was expecting a very long wait (on average I have to spend one hour and a half waiting everytime I go there), but this morning there were surprisingly only two other persons. I skipped across the street to the comic book store, where I had another one of our weird conversations with the cashier there. He prides himself with being a very pessimistic guy, and sometimes we do these phylosophical duels where I point out everything that's good with the day and he does the opposite, and see who wins. Today I had sunny weather, short queue at the post office, Bob Dylan's Just Like A Woman playing on the radio as soon as I walked in. He only had "tomorrow it could rain" and "I don't like Dylan's voice but it's a pretty good song", so it's another win for me. :D

And I came back home to other wonderful things! My Arc Reactor necklace finally arrived:

Then, the first Marvel's Agents of SHIELD full promo is out, and I must say, the special effects look great. Also, Lola. 'nuff said. :D

We also had Once Upon A Time's season finale, which, in my opinion, was a lot better than the previous episodes, and from the looks of it the next season is going to be epic. I should never forget it's from the guys who did Lost, where the even seasons were meh and the odd seasons were great. So yeah, bring on season 3!

And I'm not ashamed to admit I got a bit weepy while watching Cmr Hadfield singing Space Oddity on the International Space Station. It doesn't get any more awesome than that.

I have to see the lawyer in a couple of hours, but first I'm waiting for a call from mom's doctor about her new meds. Send me lots of happy thoughts, let's hope the day stays as bright as it began. ^^

It's finally here, the first teaser trailer for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD!!!!

It's amazing what fans can do. We all stuck our fingers in our ears when Coulson got stabbed by Loki, started #coulsonlives, and one year later the guy gets resurrected and has his own tv show. I really, really love fandom. ♥
