Well guess what, I did it. Today I turn 33, I made it! The other day I met with my oncologist, and I thanked her for getting me to my birthday, and she was so moved and hugged me and wished me happy birthday. By the way, the exams show the new medicine is working, so next tuesday I'm leaving for two weeks back home. \o/

Yesterday I recieved my first birthday gift, a wonderful care package from [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75, with biscuits and tea and jelly beans and toblerones (even the white one!), so today I had breakfast with proper British tea, I was so happy! I'm saving the jammie dodgers for when I come back though. *_____* And my aunt baked me a cake, with pineapple and kiwis and peaches!

It's been one of the hardest years of my life, but I survived it, and I'm here. I'm really proud of myself. ^^
nausicaa83: (<kingdom hearts> aqua)
First things first, thank you all for the birthday wishes! You're all wonderful! \o/

I spent a truly lovely birthday with Tati. She made me all kinds of tasty food, we watched cartoons, played music together, and in the evening we went to a new Japanese restaurant in Treviso, and ate a bowl each of delicious ramen. Just like the ramen I used to eat in Tokyo!

And here's my birthday gift to me. Yes, I'm still going through a heavily obsessed Kingdom Hearts phase, and it's not going away. :D In the meanwhile I'm still organizing the book shelves, and it's finally showing. I'll post pictures when I'm done. ^^

Yesterday I woke up early in the morning with a terrible stomachache, and spent the day hugging the toilet. According to the doctor it was a virus, one of those 24 hours things, coupled with the first day of my period. I finally felt better in the afternoon, but I had to postpone all my appointments to next week. Today I feel better, but I've lost a lot of blood. The first thing I did upon waking up was eating a raw egg. Not pleasant, but very effective.

And now I should really lie down again, my blood pressure is still quite low.
nausicaa83: (<avengers> she's like fire and ice)
I had the loveliest time these past few days! On wednesday it was Tati's birthday, and I pulled all the stops: there was music, a trip to the cinema, dancing, and chocolate cake, it was, in a word, BRILLIANT. To be a little more precise, we went to the cinema to watch Captain America - The Winter Soldier, which we absolutely loved (political thriller with superheroes? hard to beat!), and the cake was Sacher Torte, our favourite. As for the music, last week I decided to buy *drumroll* a ukulele. Why the ukulele? Because I'd just seen Amanda Palmer's Ukulele Anthem video and it was very, very convincing. She makes a lot of good points! Less than six hours after it arrived, Tati and I were already dueting on Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and in less than a day I learned all the chords to Science Fiction Double Feature. It's so much fun! \o/

It's a ukulele for beginners, quite cheap, but it does its job splendidly. I named it "Kairi" because good things should always have good names. *_____*

And there's a little review of Captain America 2 under the cut, for those who are interested. Let's face it, a million fics now need to be re-written! Spoilers ahoy! )

So in conclusion, lots of love for this movie, lots of questions, and for the first time a superhero movie made me think of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Good job, Captain!
nausicaa83: (<supernatural> let's jam)
Guess what just arrived!

It was actually supposed to arrive on my actual birthday, but it got delayed at customs, and then ended up in San Marino. For those of you who (understandably) don't know where that is, here. Since it's a different country altogether, it's just like saying it got delayed in customs in Italy and ended up in Croatia. Hence my confusion.

And although I usually don't like how reaction gifs seem to have substituted normal words, just this once I have to:

It's just too perfect for the situation. :D
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
And guess what? It's my birthday!

Not only that, but it's my 30th birthday. If you had told me ten years ago that I would live to see this age, I would have laughed in your face. And yet, ten years later, here I am. It's almost one year since my oncologist bid me goodbye, four years at the gym and about to start the fifth one, yesterday was my second therapy anniversary, I'm healthier than ever and ready for the future!

And I baked my own birthday muffins (again, 20-year-old Nausicaa would be baffled), ate one for breakfast and put the rest in a tupperware to bring my therapist later. Plans for the rest of the day: therapy, a bit of shopping, Hollow Bastion, John Finnemore, ring my aunt and maybe bake some more muffins (I always buy twice the ingredients in case something goes wrong with the first batch). And then maybe a Disney movie! ♥
nausicaa83: (<disney> merida)
It's the Birthday Entry! This one was an epic one, at least for my standards. :D It's 29, the last year of my twenties. *drumroll*

First, a picture of yours truly in her lucky red corset (I just *love* it), eating sushi. See the hair? I'm going to cut it on wednesday. That already qualifies as "too long" in my mind. Although I do admit it has a certain puffy quality that on good days I define as "cute". My hair and I have a love-hate relationship.

This way for pictures of the celebrations, with colourful wagons on the streets and dancing men in lederhosen, and old phobias being crushed to the sound of wonderful music. And shoes. )

I had to skip the gym today because I slept on my stomach last night, which I never do, and woke up with a wryneck. Well, that, and the air conditioning still on on the bus yesterday. It's wine season, for god's sake! It's cold! I'm feeling fine now, but I thought it best not to stress the muscles too much.

Tomorrow it's vet time (for Sakura) and therapy time (for me), then back to Tati to start the second season of Teen Wolf together! She's in for quite a great journey. ♥

Great day today, it's still cold and crisp but the sun is out, and I'm cursing myself in multiple languages because today Venice was as stunning as a Tintoretto picture and I forgot to take my camera with me. Deep blue sky, and all the buildings were bright with colours, stunning. Autumn is definitely the best looking season here.

This morning I went back to therapy after a short break, as my therapist went on a little holiday. She came in, and she was carrying a bag from a chocolaterie near St Mark's Square, and guess what, it was her birthday present for me! My birthday's on monday, but we'll see each other next on tuesday. I wasn't expecting that at all, I was so happy!

It's a tea set! I know she's supposed to know me and all being my therapist, but by god she GETS ME so much.

The teaspoon has a heart on it, and it's SO CUTE. And it's all pictures of sweets and cakes and cherries aldhskajhfsghf. ♥

And now I shall break my rule of only one cup of tea a day, because I have to try this set. And if tonight I won't be able to sleep, I'll just read fanfictions. Yes, this is a sound plan, I like it. *_____*

First things first, thanks to all of you for the birthday greetings, you're all amazing and you brighten up my day and my inbox. Love you, guys! :******

day one • a song
day two • a picture
day three • a book/ebook/fanfic
day four • a website
day five • a youtube clip
day six • a quote
day seven • whatever tickles your fancy

A book? Go and read everything Jim Butcher wrote. That's what I'm doing lately, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Fanfics, fanfics, where do I start? I have so many bookmarked, and I need to make a rec post sooner or later. Anyway, if I have to choose just the one, it'll be this one:

The Poster Girl by [livejournal.com profile] stardust_made. It's a Sherlock case fic, and it's awesome. Wonderfully complex and realistic, it's all about deducing and investigating, and the characterizations are perfect. It's the best way to survive the long wait for new episodes, with a brand new case that's so perfectly written you'll find it hard to believe it isn't the real deal.

Now back to drinking my soya milk. It took me a lot to get used to the taste, but it's the only safe way I can introduce calcium in my body, and I really don't want to break a hip because I couldn't drink milk. ^^

Birthday update! I had the most awesome two-day-long birthday ever. All my friends came, and we had lots of fun, we watched Supernatural, played Rock Band, and had the most delicious chocolate cake ever.

Pictures!

Group photo!

Tati's gift: now I can sing while playing the drums! We tried singing with Green Day, I sang the main track and Tati did the second voice, and it was amazing, and so exhilarating.

Close-up of the mic.

My gift to myself, that arrived yesterday. I'm on such a Supernatural fever right now!

Best birthday in years, I spent it all with my friends, and got a three-day-long party! We had cake, went to the cinema to see Totoro, ate sushi and watched lots of movies. We also watched Supernatural 5x02 again, because that's an awesome episode, and we're kinda masochistic. :D

So I got a beautiful Claymore action figure, Clare, and a Watchmen shirt, which I fear I'm going to wear everywhere. ^^
