nausicaa83: (<ashes to ashes> for her time iem iem)
Little celebrative entry, because today I'm finally going back to therapy, after a whole month. A month I had to skip because I was super infective and I have therapy in a hospital, and I didn't want to jump start the plague. But still, I missed it so much! Seriously, I was about to crawl out of my skin. I have so many things to tell her that one hour won't be enough, but at least it's a start. Yessssss.

Also, pictures! Because I'm in a mood for pictures. :D

This one was requested by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] nefertina86. It's a close-up of my collection of snow globes, bought at the Disney Store every year until they stopped the series. Sigh. My favourite is the last one, 2011, with Jack Skellington bringing gifts in his flying coffin. I bought it before a therapy session, and went straight there with my little bag. Thus traumatizing my therapist a lot when she saw it. I had to swear it had nothing to do with the coffin, everything to do with the movie. Her face was priceless. :D

And last week I also decided to do a Cornetto Trilogy marathon, and then started with Scott Pilgrim vs The World, thus making it a Edgar Wright marathon. Every night a different movie, this week I'll start on my Spaced boxset. It was AWESOME. They just keep getting better and better with every new viewing. ♥

Off to take a shower, then therapy! Yay! \o/

Guess what just arrived!

It was actually supposed to arrive on my actual birthday, but it got delayed at customs, and then ended up in San Marino. For those of you who (understandably) don't know where that is, here. Since it's a different country altogether, it's just like saying it got delayed in customs in Italy and ended up in Croatia. Hence my confusion.

And although I usually don't like how reaction gifs seem to have substituted normal words, just this once I have to:

It's just too perfect for the situation. :D
nausicaa83: (<kingdom hearts> connected hearts)
Oh happy day! Today is the day they released Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD in Europe! I pre-ordered it in May, and patiently waited all summer, counting the days, and it's finally here!

Yesterday I received a text message that the local Gamestop had tried to call me while I was on the phone. They always call the day before a pre-ordered game is released. I called them back, with the conversation going like this:

Me: "hi, did you just try to call me to tell me about Kingdom Hearts???"
Cashier: "yep"
Me: "could you please, maybe..."
Cashier: *clears throat* "your Kingdom Hearts copy is here"
Me: "OH MY GOD"
Cashier: *laughing* "we open at 9 am tomorrow, I'll be waiting"

This morning I had to call the doctor, then my aunt called because I'm her IT gal, so in the end I got there at 10 am. As soon as I walked in the guy saw me and greeted me with a "you're late! I thought I'd find you here when I opened the store!" and we spent the next 30 minutes talking about keyblades and pure hearts and the merits of magic vs swords. It was awesome. :D

In other brilliant news, yesterday I finally saw Edgar Wright's The World's End. Now, Hot Fuzz is my favourite movie, and I adore Shaun of the Dead, so I was equal parts excited and worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations, but was I wrong to worry. Holy moley, I wasn't expecting it to be so freaking good. If I had to use three words, "really, really good". Wait, that's two words. How about "absolutely bloody brilliant!"?

And thank the gods of cinema I managed to avoid spoilers, because this is one movie that needs to be seen without knowing anything in advance. I knew the genre they were spoofing, but I quickly forgot five minutes in, I was so taken by the characters, and then the main story happened and it blew my mind. Also, the acting was superb. There were a couple of scenes that made me cry like a baby, other scenes that made me gasp and literally jump in my seat, and I spent the last 15 minutes sitting on the floor in front of the tv, armchair forgotten. Simon Pegg is such a good actor, holy shit. I mean, everyone was brilliant, but with him I keep forgetting it's the same actor, because Shaun is nothing like Nicholas Angel, and Gary King is completely different, and such a realistic character, I kept forgetting he wasn't actually real.

And the soundtrack was fantastic!!! I ordered it yesterday before going to sleep, and then downloaded it this morning, so that I could listen to it while going downtown. Let me tell you, marching to the GameStop while the Doors sing "show me the way to the next whiskey bar" in your ears, it doesn't get any better than that. :D

Oh, and just a sidenote for those who haven't seen it yet, it is the darkest one of the trilogy, so trigger warning for depression and alcoholism. It made me cry a lot, and I don't get triggered by those two topics, so better safe than sorry.

To those who have seen it, here's a fantastic analysis of the themes of the movie, especially regarding the Arthurian legends. It makes for a great reading, trust me. ;)

Stay tuned for another happy entry regarding health, future surgeries, why I had to go to the doctor this morning, in the near future. ♥

The weekend has come and gone, all the leaves are brown and the sky is grey. Man, I do wish I were in California right now. This morning I had to do some legal stuff for my mom, and everything went so smoothly I'm really proud of myself. I still have to do a couple of phonecalls, and meet my lawyer, but the scary stuff is done. Hurrah for me. ^^

Fandom news, I watched all episodes of Spaced in one day because it was awesome. I was laughing so much I almost fell from my chair twice. Then on the same day I watched Shaun of the Dead, and that was awesome too. It kinda spoiled this week's episode of the Walking Dead to me because everytime a zombie appeared I would tell Rick to throw a Dire Straits record to it. Totally worth it. XD

I also finished reading Vintage, a Ghost Story, and now I have a Stephen King's book next on my list. It's The Stand, and Shion lent it to me because I admitted I had never read anything by him. I have no idea what it's about, and that makes it even more interesting.

I'm feeling so sleepy lately, it's not even funny. It's probably because of the sudden changes in weather, one day it rains, then it's sunny, then it's cold, then it's foggy, and then it starts all over again. It's a lot better than insomnia, sure, but it feels like being ten again when you get sleepy at 9 pm.

Today I started watching The Walking Dead. I love 28 Days Later, so it was a must-see. First things first, great, amazing director. All the first episode was a mere masterpiece. Truly incredible. Also, great cast, especially Rick and Glenn. I just shouldn't have watched that second episode right before lunch, it looks like splatter scenes *can* affect my stomach. Who knew.

The other night I watched Hot Fuzz. I think I'm in love with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. The first half of the movie was perfect, and it was so Life on Mars it hurt, while the second part was crazy and hilarious. Already in my favourite-movies-of-all-time list, thank you very much. Now I only have Shaun of the Dead left, but I'll probably watch it tomorrow. Enough zombies for one day, I must say.

Dark, cold, rainy evenings, with the sun setting before 5 pm? Time to watch some movies! I have a to-watch list that's getting ridicously long, and with the winter coming it's the perfect time to drink hot tea, wrap myself in a blanket, and pretend I'm somewhere else. :D

Yesterday it was Scott Pilgrim Vs The World's turn. I haven't read the comic book yet, although it looks very interesting, but I loved the movie. Batshit crazy, funny, and I definitely need to see it another couple of times before I can fully digest it. The blu-ray won't come out before late december, and that's a pity because this is the kind of movie you need to see in high definition. Highly recommended.

I just finished the Career on Rock Band 3. The ending was really funny, and quite unexpected. After that, I played The Doors' People Are Strange until my fingers bled. It's the first song I want to play on my new drumset next month, and I want to be ready. \o/
