nausicaa83: (<hobbit> king under the mountain)
What an intense week! On monday I had a little dental surgery; nothing as brutal as what I had to endure last summer (stupid teeth), but I had to take a lot of painkillers. Tati came to visit, and she had an epic allergic reaction to something (we're still trying to understand what), and there were frantic phonecalls to doctors, pills, and a huge scare for everyone involved. Now she's fine, my tooth stopped hurting, but boy oh boy, what an experience. Now we're trying to identify the food she had a reaction to, we've come up with a couple of possible candidates for the tests, let's hope we're right.

In the meanwhile I managed to finish a new book for the Reading Bingo:

For the "A Best Selling Book" square I read Stephen Chbosky's The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. It's a 1999 New York Times Bestseller, so it was either that square or the "A Book Set In The Past" square, and I refuse to call 1991 "the past". As Miranda says, "but it just happened!".

It's hard to talk about this book without spoiling it. I knew basically nothing about it when I bought it, and I think I appreciated it even more because of it. It reminded me a lot of The Catcher in the Rye and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, as it's a coming-of-age story told entirely from the point of a view of a kid who is "not normal". It's realistic and gripping, and the characters feel alive and breathing. The writing is stunning, absolutely believable as if it were written by a kid, making everything sound very realistic. Contrary to Never Let Me Go last year, it made me want to watch the movie too, although there are some parts that are probably going to be even more of a punch in the stomach when seen in a movie.

I also finished playing the Lego The Hobbit game and now I'm doing quests and exploring the world. It's enormous, and there are so many things to do, I keep getting sidetracked. And the graphics are so good sometimes I just love to walk around and admire the scenery. And beat the hell out of every little object I find. And killing a lot of random npcs. :D Plus I'm recruiting new characters from all over the map, including a shiny Sauron and a baby Smaug. They're so adorable! *_____*
nausicaa83: (<gravity falls> reality is an illusion)
News from the past week: I had a bit of a cold and ear infection in the weekend that greatly affected my balance. Luckly it went away quickly, and it was probably because of the sudden spring weather we've been having. I'm greatly enjoing having the floor back where it's supposed to be. ^^

The other day something special arrived by mail:

That's my front door, with a new shiny burglar-looking-for-a-job rune on it. It's a childhood dream come true! It came with very complicated instructions, but in the end it only took me a few seconds to apply it. I'm very proud of my wizarding skills, not gonna lie. :D

I haven't written about it on here not to jinx it, but my new laptop seems to be working fine. The old one sputtered and died last november, and then when the new one arrived a few weeks back the OS wasn't properly installed (either that or it was possessed by an angry lumberjack - yes, I'm still squeeing over that new Gravity Falls episode) and it collided on itself. Now it's been back for a couple of weeks, and it seems to be working perfectly fine. All my favourite programs are installed, and I'm back to watching downloaded tv shows on the tv screen through a HDMI connector. I missed that so much. *_______*

Speaking of which, I started watching The 100 on Netflix, but had to abandon it halfway through the second season. It's good, but it has every single one of my triggers, it was too stressful. But hey, if you're looking for a new sci-fi series that's aimed at a young audience but is still full of references to classics, you should check it out. The writing is good, and there's a lot of great female characters. It's not that refined, true, but it's full of promise and intriguing enough.

Gravity Falls came back with a fantastic, unexpectedly gory, and truly amazing episode. It was great! And yesterday The Big Bang Theory did their toast to actress Carol Ann Susi. I loved it, it was quiet and respectful and full of love. One of the best moments of the season. I haven't watched Better Call Saul yet, shame on me, but everybody tells me it's awesome. I'll probably wait until it's over and then marathon it like the crazy person I am. Also Moriarty seems to be coming back to Elementary, I'm still celebrating over that letter!

And last but not least yesterday the actual creator of Over The Garden Wall wrote me a personal message. On Etsy, about the shipping cost of a book I ordered from him the other day. But it still counts!!! Seriously, when I recieved it I screamed out loud, and had to breathe in a pillow for a while.

I'm still playing Lego The Hobbit: I'm about to meet the Necromancer, and then the dragon. I can't wait! This game keeps being awesome and hilarious, it's a fantastic experience. The puzzles are growing in complexity, but they're never frustrating. I encountered a couple of bugs, but I just had to reset the level and everything went back to normal.

I was supposed to go to therapy tomorrow afternoon, but my therapist had to cancel; I have a billion other things I should do, but I'll probably spend it sorting my unread books for the Reading Bingo. ;)
nausicaa83: (<muppet show> exit pursued by a bear)
Drumroll, please! It's my first entry of this year's Reading Bingo!

For the "A Book With A Female Heroine" square I chose Alexander McCall Smith's Tears of the Giraffe, his second book in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. As with the first one, we follow the story of Precious Ramotswe, the owner of Botswana's only detective agency. It's a very relaxing and charming book, that made me fall in love with Botswana all over again, and with the wonderful characters of this book. Mma Ramotswe takes various cases, all while organizing her wedding, and her boyfriend adopts two orphans. It's a cozy, beautiful story, the cases are intriguing and the characters fascinating. With every new chapter I had to run to my cousin to tell her what was happening and how worried I was that the main characters would fall out of love over his abrupt decision to adopt the kids, and we would worry together and share theories about the murder mystery. It was a great experience, I can't wait to read the next one. *______*

In other news, I started playing the Lego: The Hobbit videogame. I had only played another Lego videogame before, and not even to the end. I almost threw my controller out of the window when I couldn't figure out how to open the very first door, but after that it's been smooth sailing. The puzzles are intriguing but not so difficult to be annoying, and it is hilarious. My favourite thing to do is to link arms with whoever I'm standing next to and just skip around. Even while the dragon was attacking Erebor and I had to rescue the king. :D The dialogue comes from the movies, and it's so wonderful to just sit there and listen to all my favourite actors delivering lines I know by heart. I still have to get used to the fact that to finish every level I have to build stuff, though. As Bilbo, I had to destroy all my furniture to build a table large enough for 13 dwarves, and it took me a while to realize that was the only course of action. My poor furniture!

In real life news, same ol' same ol'. I had a dentist appointment scheduled for the past monday morning, and I slept very little the night before (I'm worried I'll have to go through a new string of painful surgeries like last summer), but then over a very sleepy breakfast I got a call that the dentist was sick, and they moved the appointment to the 23rd. I feel like I wasted a perfectly good worrying!
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
So, about that Tolkien-obsessed phase I'm going through (again), Tati and I are finally marathoning The Lord of the Rings, extended editions, together. And this came in the mail today:

It's Bilbo Baggins' contract with Thorin's company, and it's lifesize. It's a glorious 150 cm, I measured it. I'm such a nerd. :D

During the weekend I'll start working on a Tolkien shelf, much like with my Sherlock Holmes shelf, with all the books and nerdy stuff in display together. It's going to be awesome! *_____*

This is a rather short entry because I just came home and I'm about to leave for the gym, but in short, real life is going fine, therapy is going great, it's been a lovely start of the new year. ^^ And the new Supernatural episode was amazing, so there's that too!
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
I just came back from watching the final Hobbit movie. I feel the same way as I did with the other two movies: I think they took everything that was great about the book and made it better. All my favourite scenes were there, and they hit me even harder than I thought possible. I cried and sobbed a lot more than I did with Return of the King. I loved every minute of it, and I'm so grateful to Peter Jackson for taking one of my favourite childhood books, a book that shaped my imagination and sense of adventure as a child, and sewing it together with the Silmarillion, the Lord of the Rings appendices, all the Tolkien masterpieces I read and loved as a young adult. Then he took characters who weren't more than a name in the original book, and gave them voices, and backgrounds and a soul. He made me fall in love with the characters I already loved since I was a child, Thorin, Bilbo and Gandalf, and then made me fall for his version of the other characters. He took the dwarves' passion for the gold, and wrote an epic poem of longing for a lost home that brings to mind Verdi's Va' Pensiero. And then he gave us Thorin and Bilbo's relationship. I sincerely have no words for how grateful I am to him, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens for giving us these characters and these movies.

And now I can't wait for the extended edition, so I can cry even longer. ^^
nausicaa83: (<game of thrones> iron throne)
I hope you all are fine, especially those of you in the USA. Here in Italy we've only been having rain, although it hasn't stopped in three days. More annoying than anything. It is the perfect weather for binge watching, true, so I've been watching a few of the movies I had downloaded these past few months, and the Berserk movies. Berserk is my favourite manga, and I was very disappointed with the old tv series. These three movies, instead, are absolutely perfect. Yes, they had to cut many of my favourite scenes, but they captured the heart of the story, and the animation, the music, the voices, everything is stunning. And they didn't censor anything! I squeed a lot when we caught a glimpse of Farnese and Serpico, and I'm so excited at the idea of seeing the next movie: new material at last! \o/

Speaking of which, I'm not reading Miura's new project, Gigantomachia, until it's over and I can read it all in one sitting. Reading Berserk at the pace of a chapter every ten months is quite vexing as it is.

In other news, plunging back again in the Hobbit fandom made me want to replay all the Dragon Age games again. I made a new character last year, shortly after watching Unexpected Journey, and she's a Dwarf Thief, I can't wait to go back to her. I just checked the website for the next Dragon Age game, Inquisition, and we can finally create our own character again, and make our fortress and choose the members of our group and we're back at fighting dragons and dark creatures, I'm so happy I could cry! I loved Dragon Age 2, mainly the characters and gameplay, but the story was short and cramped, and the fact that we couldn't create our character, it was all very confining and claustrophobic. I can't believe we went from uniting all the free races against a gigantic dragon and the whole army of evil, to petty politics.

But from what I can see of Inquisition everybody's head is back in the game, it's going to be epic. *________*
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
What a day, yesterday! My aunt, my cousin and I went to the mall for some last minute shopping. The crowd was scary, and we spent a lot of time in line, but we managed to get everything. Then we met with my cousin's boyfriend and went out for pizza. By nine pm we were at the local cinema to watch the Hobbit. The room was packed, so we had to sit apart, but I got to sit next to my aunt, yay for me. ;)

My aunt loved the movie, and she had some great comments during it. She thought Thranduill was "pretty like a princess", she called Kili "the beautiful dwarf" and when Bilbo was looking for the Arkenstone she whispered to me "maybe HE is the Arkenstone, the most precious thing for Thorin". I almost burst out "best fic prompt ever" before the stone was visible on screen, and she muttered "nevermind", clearly disappointed.

We came back by two am, and when I woke up this morning my uncle was cutting in pieces the wild boars he had hunted yesterday. On the kitchen table. Next to my tea. I told him it was like having breakfast with Hannibal, but he didn't get it. :D
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> butterflies)
Just came back from watching The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug.

Oh my god, it was AWESOME.

Like, even better than I hoped!!! Tauriel was absolutely freaking amazing, such a fantastic character, and Smaug was PERFECT, and the scene with the keyhole was perfect too, and everything was awesome and I can't believe we have to wait a whole year for the last part. Also, there was a lot of crying on my part because it was so BRILLIANT.

And I wore my Hobbit skirt, my Hobbit bag, my One Ring necklace and my Thorin's Key necklace, and I kept fiddling with both necklaces and sniffing in my handkerchief and whispering "dragooooon" every other scene. And then we went out for roasted chicken and chips, and I burned my fingers, and it was exactly like something one would eat in Bree. *_________*

Such a perfect day. ♥
nausicaa83: (<despicable me> fangirling)
It's here! The new Desolation of Smaug trailer is here!!! And we can hear Benedict as Smaug!!!!

After watching the trailer, Tati and I listened to the polar bear bit in Qikiqtarjuaq straight away. It was hilarious. I truly can't believe this is the same guy, and at the same time I feel so smug because I knew it! I knew he was going to be perfect! Wow. And he doesn't even sound like the Angel Islington, or Khan. It's another voice altogether, truly a creature of fire and greed. Wow and double wow.

And the whole trailer was amazing, and I just can't wait! \o/ *happy nerd dance*
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> butterflies)
Less than three months to The Desolation of Smaug, and I'm getting ready:

Isn't it the most adorable keychain ever? It's a cute little Smaug! I love it! And it was made by a very talented friend of mine too, Florealpolla. The link goes to her Etsy shop, she is currently selling two Sherlock and two Supernatural keychains, but there are more on the way (I check her shop daily like the creepy fangirl I am). Go buy one! Tell her I sent you! And while you're at it make it sound as if I were the Wicked Witch with her flying monkeys because that would be super cool! :D

And since we're still in Happy Premiere Week, the new Modern Family episodes were great! And Cam and Mitchell managed to make me cry, again. It happens at least once a season with those two. What can I say, they are adorable, and I'm weak. ^^
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> butterflies)
Look what I just did, all by myself!

Back in 2001, shortly after my sister's funeral, my classmates bought me a The Lord of the Rings poster, with the Argonath. I still remember that evening spent nailing it to the wall. Mom was holding the frame, but the glass slipped and I grabbed it before it could reach the floor. I cut my left thumb, all the way from root to nail. There was blood everywhere, my mom was freaking out, and I was jumping up and down trying not to get blood on the shiny new poster while reaching for something to wrap it. I was a little badass back then. :D

That poster followed me through all these years, and it symbolizes a huge part of my life. But it was time to start a new chapter, while still honoring the past. And that's why I bought this beautiful Desolation of Smaug poster, same size. I flipped the old poster, so it's still there, just facing the wall. And I managed to re-frame it and put it back on the wall while getting only a papercut this time. Go Nausicaa! \o/

And today Tati is coming over! I'm going to make her crepes a-la nutella, and she's going to be my guinea pig. *grabs chef's hat, laughs maniacally*
nausicaa83: (<jazz age> shake it)
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Etsy? I keep finding adorable things, at a very affordable price. Case in point: three years ago, when I first visited the Globe in London, I bought a beautiful bracelet, with rose buds inside little drops of resin. I used to wear it every single day, and was very sad when the rose buds died, more than a year later. A couple of weeks ago I was checking Etsy and I found out there are a few stores where they sell all kind of bracelets and pendants with real flowers, all in resin. It took me a while to choose, because there are so many, and finally I went for two of my favourite flowers, daisies and forget-me-not.

Not my pictures because it's really hard to take a picture of something that's transparent. ^^"

They're way sturdier than they look, and very, very beautiful. There are so many talented people out there, it's amazing!

I finally got my new iPod padded case too (I've been using the one for my camera, but it's too huge and I almost dropped it a couple of times). And a mug with Gandalf, Bilbo and the Dwarfs because I'm weak. :D

And now I'm going to try and make some crepes. They're really easy to prepare, and perfect for an afternoon snack. *_____*
nausicaa83: (<lotr> that which is fairest)
Quiet summer weekends are my favourite. Yesterday I couldn't sleep, mostly because of the fireworks right on top of my house (it was a Venetian religious holiday), so I decided to watch a couple of episodes of an anime I hadn't seen in ages, Ouran High School Host Club. It's a show that's very dear to my heart: back when it first aired it was shortly after mom's accident, and that weekly episode was literally the only thing that managed to make me laugh.

Watching it now, years of fandom experience, and fanfics, later, I realized I see it in a completely new light: as soon as Kyoya was introduced, my brain provided me with a "he's the Mycroft Holmes of the club", then the twins did their thing and my mind kept commenting "oh, that's for the Wincest fans!". And Tamaki's lonely prince routine is now obviously a nod to fans turning a villain into a poor, misunderstood soul who only needs a hug (Loki, anyone?).

In other words, I watched five episodes straight, laughing so hard I had to pause a few times to hide my face in a pillow, not to wake the neighbours. I went to sleep with tears in my eyes from all the laughing. Fanfics have completely changed my view of the world, and realizing that all the tropes were already there in that adorable show was such a wonderful surprise. It is just so clever and funny.

Today I decided to go even further back in time and started re-watching the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. I even made petticoat tails to eat during the movie because they look like lembas. And then something unexpected happened. While during a re-watch of The Hobbit last week I cried almost constantly, The Fellowship of the Ring made me shed almost no tears. I thought the memories would have hurt a lot, but apparently my brain decided to override that reaction and went straight for pure awe at the movie. Seriously, I had forgotten just how good this movie is. It was a costant stream of squeeing, mouthing the lines, flailing arms and legs and the squealing some more.

The best part is that The Fellowship is the one I like less of the three, I can only imagine my reactions when I watch the next two movies. It's going to be great. ♥

Seriously, almost two years of therapy, and yet I'm still shocked when I manage to win over traumas and mental blocks. I never learn. :D
nausicaa83: (<despicable me> fangirling)
The first The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug trailer is HERE.

It's absolutely amazing. Mostly focused on the Elves, although we get to see quite a lot of stuff. Tauriel is awesome, Thranduil's epic, there are butterflies and spiders and that final shot, oh my god. I'm sitting here squealing and flailing my arms, and I have to wait 6 more months and it's going to be awesome.

(The link goes to the facebook page, because so far all youtube versions have czech hardsubs.)
nausicaa83: (<avengers> bros)
Remember all the cardio I did the other day? It's come back to bite me in the ass, literally. So many cramps in places I didn't even know had muscles. Had to skip gym today because of all the gym last monday, what the hell. Not to mention Sakura is feeling extra cuddly today, and doesn't understand why everytime she jumps on my stomach I push her away crying. She thinks it's a new game, I'm sure. Right now she's trying to climb my right arm, so any typo is her fault.

This morning I bought a new external hard drive, because the one I had was already full. I did a quick research online, and found out that they're doing them in terabytes now. Wow. I remember a few years back terabytes were for Nasa only. In the end I bought a Western Digital one, 1 terabyte of space (again, wow), and already filled 100 gbs of space with tv series and comfort movies. Yes, I made a folder specifically for movies that I watch when I'm feeling sad and need a hug, even if I have them all on bluray in the other room, but hey, there are never too many copies of my favourite movies. :D

Here it is, right out of the box, with the new The Hobbit artbook:

I've already ordered a bunch of stickers from RedBubble, for the laptop and the external hard-drives. They're going to look so pretty. *______*

And say hello to my new wallet!

I'm predictable, I know. It's leather, so it smells awesome, and has a billion pockets inside and doesn't look weird even if I filled it with coins.

On other fandom news, I'm up-to-date with Gravity Falls, which is an incredibly awesome series, and everyone should watch it, and has the most beautiful and realistic sibling relationship I've ever seen in western animation (except for Lilo and Nani, of course) and I'm totally Dipper. :D Seriously, watch it, you'll thank me.

And kudos to those kind souls who scan and upload online comics the very day they're released. I just finished reading the new Hawkeye issue, and it was, in a (predictable) word, BRILLIANT. I love everything about this series, the women, the fashion, the "bro" guys, everything! \o/
nausicaa83: (<lotr> hug)
My aunt is here!!! She arrived yesterday, and we had tea and re-arranged my tea collection and complained about the weather and talked and talked and talked... I'm so happy! I hadn't seen her since the holidays, and even if we talk every day on the phone I had so much to tell her. And so much new things to show her around the house. Everytime she comes to visit it ends up with us reenacting that scene from Monsters Inc, with yours truly as Boo proudly showing all her toys to Sully. "And look at this and look at that and I bought this last month and I reorganized the books, look look". And she loved my new glasses too! \o/

The plan is as follows. She stays until friday, when we both take the train and go back home, where I will enjoy a few days of happy family time with my uncle and cousins too, and then I'll come back here on wednesday. I can't wait! *does happy dance*

Last night there was the Desolation of Smaug sneak peek. I didn't have a code, but I managed to watch it on livestream anyway. I'm so, so excited about this movie. I loved every little scene they showed, I have a huge crush on Tauriel, and Lee Pace as Thranduil broke my brain. A crazy combination of "God, I'm so horny right now" and "did he eat Lucius Malfoy?". Unf.
nausicaa83: (<sherlock> don't mind us)
It's been a couple of weird days. I'm often forgetful, which isn't like me at all, and I've ended up making a lot of mistakes and apologizing to a lot of persons. I've also realized that the people in my life are all very kind, and I felt quite lucky for it.

For example, when I made a mistake, the guys at the comic book store just had a laugh about it, told me it was nothing, and then asked me as punishment to go the manager and ask him to turn off Breaking Dawn II, because they had had to play it on the tv for a whole week and they were going mad. I marched upstairs, told him I was on a quest, and proceeded to explain to him why the characters of Breaking Dawn are horrible and he should let his employees play Spiderman on the tv instead. ^^

Then I went to the post-office, and the man there recognized me at the door, called me over, and said he would make me skip the queue to get my package - that's because I had already been there two hours earlier, and it hadn't arrived yet. I had told him I wasn't sure I could manage to be back today because I had to be downtown by noon but I really wanted my Thorin Oakenshield hoodie. And he had actually listened and he helped me be in time for the bus!

So I rushed over to therapy, and my therapist asked me what was in the package, we opened it together and I took my sweater off and donned the hoodie in front of her. She circled me applauding, then stopped and asked me what was the meaning of the simbol on the back. Obviously, my reaction was trying to see the simbol on my back by twirling on the spot like a dog chasing its tail, and when I couldn't see it by turning clockwise, I tried turning counterclockwise, because that makes perfect sense. It made her laugh a lot, and she was having a shitty day, so even if I wasn't trying to, I still think I deserve kudos for making her laugh. ;)

I haven't taken it off yet, because it's warm and soft like a hug, and it's blue and beautiful. ♥

The best part of the day this week is no doubt the Neverwhere episode. Today James McAvoy was amazing during the ordeal scene, I was wringing my hands and holding my breath the whole time even if I remembered everything that was going to happen from the book. This radio show is incredible! And Anthony Head as Mr Croup is still the creepiest thing ever, although Benedict's Angel Islington comes close. The way he kept breathing, as if he didn't need air, but he wanted to look human, so from time to time he just inhaled some air not to spook his human guests, it was so amazing and so creeeeeepyyyyy!

I really, really love this show. ♥
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> thorin)
What a weird day! It was one of those days when things keep happening, and it feels like I have no time to react to something because something else is already coming along. And no choir practice this evening, sadly, that always helps re-organizing my thoughts. Oh well, can't be helped.

Shortly after I came back home for lunch the mail arrived, lots of wonderful things!

It's the Rolling Stones collectors edition for The Hobbit movie. It has many articles, pretty pictures, and two reversable posters. I love the idea of framing the Middle Earth map, I must say. *_____* The other one is the Atlas of Middle Earth, an incredibly detailed and realistic atlas that reminds me a lot of the Geology books for one of my exams back in 2003. Fascinating!

Here's a closer look, open at the page with the Lonely Mountain map. I hope future archaeologists won't find this book, or they'll be very confused indeed.

The other day Tati and I ordered phone charms from this shop. I chose this cutie patootie Dean and his slice of pie, look at that little tummy, isn't he precious??? ♥

Again, two hours until the next episode of Neverwhere, I can't wait! Today we get to meet the angel Islington, although we already heard him sing yesterday. Absolutely perfect! And Christopher Lee managed to make me like the Earl of Earl's Court (while in the book I found him incredibly annoying). I love this cast. *_____*

EDIT: I had just posted this entry when another package arrived. It was actually one order (except for the phone charm) but Amazon decided to ship it separately.

From left to right, Fun Home by Alison Bechdel, the inventor of the Bechdel test. I read some of her stuff online, and then I found an enthusiastic review of this book and got intrigued. I can't wait to read it! Then, there's the Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt, with beautiful pictures, photos and analysis of their famous Tolkien calendar. There's the Complete Guide to Middle Earth (god bless Amazon for being so cheap), an honest-to-god Encyclopedia of Tolkien with marvellous pictures. I opened it at random at Erebor, Saint Augustine would be very pleased. :D And last but not least, Les Miserables, original London recording, with Roger Allam as Javert (and a bunch of other people too, but let's focus on what's important here). ♥

More pictures under the cut because this is turning into a very long entry. )

This will definitely turn my next re-reading of the Silmarillion in something resembling a study session for a university exam. :D
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> hug)
Spring is finally here! Yes! I finally got my spring jacket out of the wardrobe, and all around Venice people were taking off their coats and walking around in their shirts, because the sun was so warm. I also discovered a nice chocolaterie (yep, a shop where they make and sell all kinds of Venetian chocolate stuff), and bought enough chocolate to last me for a month. Still, I promised the girl there I'd be back before that, because there's Tati's birthday, and my aunt is coming in two weeks, and, you know, chocolate. And in two days from today I'll be in Florence for the Mumford & Sons concert. Such a wonderful week! \o/

And look what finally arrived. I ordered them back in January, but the package was blocked at customs, in Milan, and I had to send them all kinds of info, and then call them on the phone, and I was starting to think I'd only get them after the next movie. Just when I was about to lose all hope, today they finally arrived:

There's no way they'll all fit in the tea cabinet. Also, my aunt is going to take a look at all that tea and laugh her sides off. But it's worth it! And my therapist says that I should just throw myself in the Tolkien fandom, because it's a trauma overcome, so they are therapeutic. Yes, I'm going to go for that excuse with my aunt. ;)

Now I should probably do the pre-trip laundry, which mostly consists of running around the house, tripping on Sakura while shouting "where are my socks?! I can't find any underwear!". Good times. :D

EDIT: Benedict Cumberbatch just confirmed the cast signed on for a 4th season of Sherlock!!! Let the celebrations begin!!! In my case, a hot cup of Bilbo Brew:

Irish breakfast, sweet potato, vanilla green and cinnamon bits. It tastes like a sunny meadow in the summer, with just that bit of a spice to be ready for an adventure. *______*
nausicaa83: (<supernatural> shake your tail feathers)
Fourth day of the antibiotic therapy, and I'm not having any side effects, the stupid period arrived precise as clockwork, and everything is working perfectly. Yes! This cycle ends on sunday, then I have to wait three weeks before starting another one.

I started the fourth sequence on Assassin's Creed III today, and I finally met Connor. I absolutely loved that they all talk in their language, instead of weirdly-accented English. Yep, I'm still cringing over Ezio's accent. I wouldn't have wanted them to talk in Italian for the whole game, just to eliminate that horrible accent, that's all. It's a-me, Mario. *shudders*

Today they also wrote me to tell me a package I ordered two months ago from the US was blocked at the border, and I had to send all kinds of personal info and description of the contents to customs. On the phone they told me it happens from time to time, but I felt as helpless as Arthur and his sort-of-a-cake. Hope they can fix it soon and I can finally get my poor package.

Now that I'm part of a choir again I have homework. I spent a good hour this afternoon doing my chores while listening to this Miserere on my iPod and singing the same part over and over again. I wonder what I looked like from outside; miiiiii-seeeee-re-REee-nowaitthatsaD-EEEeeEEEE mmmmmeeee-yeathatsthenote-eeEEEIIII. :D

Speaking of music, yesterday on twitter Richard Armitage chose Master & Servant as 'Depeche Mode song most suited for Thorin'. I therefore spent my whole evening bumping fists in the air and doing funny little dances singing excerpts of the song to the cat. This play between the sheets/With you on the top/And me underneath/Forget all about equality/Let's play Master and Servant, it sounds like a very kinky Bagginshield fic. I'm such a happy fangirl right now. :D
