Yay, LJ is back! I don't have to use proxy servers anymore! Although I love using them because then I can pretend I'm british, and the BBC website gets fooled everytime. :D

So, today I went to the bank, I bought a Vermeer calendar for the kitchen (so many of my favourite paintings, yes!), went to the hospital, and then therapy. Mom's fine, everyone's relieved, she can even start on her physiotherapy again. Therapy was much overdue, although I spent half of the time asking my therapist to repeat her questions because I was so tired I couldn't focus properly. It didn't help that my new glasses gave me a killer headache (it always happens for the first few days, it's either that or nausea), and even if I managed to get a painkiller just before entering the hospital, I was still ditzy for a while.

I came back home feeling like I had cotton instead of brain cells, and while I was fumbling with my keys I heard my neighbour calling my name. He had four packages that had arrived with the courier while I was away (that guy has wonderful timing), two months worth of shopping on Amazon that arrived all on the same day. The perfect day to arrive, may I add, because the crisis is over, I have nothing to do this weekend, and now I feel like Santa Claus just paid me a visit. I came in, put the kettle on, and started taking pictures while Sakura played with the boxes.

Group picture! So many wonderful things, I have great taste, yes yes. *_____*

Let's start with the Hobbit artbook. It has Thorin's map at the beginning. When I was a kid my dad made one from scratch using the little picture in our copy of the book as reference. If he could only see this! Also pictured, Thorin's key (with all my other keys). I got the map, I got the key, I'm ready for my adventure. I should put a rune on my front door, just in case.

This picture was tricky to take. It's the moon runes on the map, one can feel them with one's fingertips, and I had to sharpen the picture three times on Photoshop to have them visible enough.

Bilbo's contract. That's a lot of clauses. I have no idea how I managed to take these pictures since I was jumping up and down and making high-pitched noises that I'm sure only dogs could hear.

Both Rise of the Guardians books, The Man On The Moon and the movie artbook. They're both so pretty! I have the rest of the Guardians books but they'll have to wait until I've finished reading Fearless. God, I love Cornelia Funke! ♥

It is time for a Lord of the Rings marathon. Last one I did, it was with mom. I wonder if these blurays also have the hidden easter eggs from the dvds. I remember finding Gollum's acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards and feeling so proud of myself. :D

And now the headache seems to be back. I should probably go and lie down in the dark a bit, that always helps. ^^
nausicaa83: (<sherlock> reading)
I love the original Grimm fairytales. My mom used to read them to me when I was a kid, the original uncensored versions, with all the gore and the darkness. I still prefer those grim versions to the polished ones of the Disney cartoons.

This to say that I just finished reading Cornelia Funke's Reckless, and god, was that depressing. Even in those fairytales by the brothers Grimm you always got the feeling that everything had a purpose, led to some closure, not always a happy one, but a ending anyway. Not here. I'm very happy to read that she's already writing a sequel, because this was even more depressing than Inkspell, no kidding. It left me with that weird feeling, I'm happy I got to read such a beautiful book, but I'm kinda regretting it since it left me with such a sour taste in my mouth. I just want to hug all the characters and make them tea and tell them everything will be alright.

And now I'll just dig from the pile of books on my desk a cute fluffy one, because *seriously*.

Yesterday I finally saw InkHeart. The books are amazing, so I was both worried and excited about this movie. It turns out, it was really, really good. There were changes and cuts obviously, but the book's true spirit was there, and the cast was amazing! It would be worth watching for Paul Bettany's Dustfingers alone. Man, he was awesome, it felt just like my Dustfingers had come out of the book (bad joke, I know). And Brendan Fraser's Mortimer already felt like the Mo from the second book, and that's a great thing. *_*

The one change I didn't like as much as the rest of the movie was the ending. Mostly because of what Meggie did (and couldn't do in the books), and the little part they had to add at the end, probably because they wanted to give some conclusion to the story in case they couldn't do the sequels. So, the ending makes sense in the movie, but thinking of the books, you could find yourself a bit confused.

Whether you're a fan of the books or just in need of a good fantasy movie, you should definitely check this out. I can't wait for the dvd! \o/

Real life update: new haircut, baby! *____*

And this what happens when I get really bored. I mean, really really bored.

Good news, today is a beautiful sunny day, and so was yesterday. I still can't get used to it, after so many weeks of bad weather. I've been reading a lot, I'm already at the third book of the Inkheart saga (that's Inkdeath, even if in the italian version they had to call it Inkdawn, god knows why), and I'm loving it! And I can't wait to see Brandon Fraser playing Mortimer, even if I'm more excited about the Mortimer of the second and third movie, and they weren't even made yet. ^^"

1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this everyday for a week without fail.

Sixth entry, and the winner is...

Sylar's Reservoir Dogs moment! Man, that was awesome, and restored almost all my faith in the show. I could even hear the soundtrack in the back of my mind, "here I am, stuck in the middle with you"! Yep, crazy Tarantino fan is crazy and creepy. :P

And I also finished Inkheart while waiting for the episode to download. It was really good, and I'm going to read the whole saga for sure. Only a week until the movie arrives here, and I can't wait to see Paul Bettany as Dustfingers! *_______*
