nausicaa83: (<sherlock> reading)

I love the original Grimm fairytales. My mom used to read them to me when I was a kid, the original uncensored versions, with all the gore and the darkness. I still prefer those grim versions to the polished ones of the Disney cartoons.

This to say that I just finished reading Cornelia Funke's Reckless, and god, was that depressing. Even in those fairytales by the brothers Grimm you always got the feeling that everything had a purpose, led to some closure, not always a happy one, but a ending anyway. Not here. I'm very happy to read that she's already writing a sequel, because this was even more depressing than Inkspell, no kidding. It left me with that weird feeling, I'm happy I got to read such a beautiful book, but I'm kinda regretting it since it left me with such a sour taste in my mouth. I just want to hug all the characters and make them tea and tell them everything will be alright.

And now I'll just dig from the pile of books on my desk a cute fluffy one, because *seriously*.
