Weekly Cabin Pressure entry, for the sweetest episode ever, Xinzhou!

Spoilers in the comments, may I just say that it was absolutely one of the best? So adorable, and funny, with so many new games to try! \o/

FIZZ!
nausicaa83: (<sherlock> black and white)
First, real life news. I had that last dentist appointment this morning. Stayed there two hours, since it was much more complicated than they thought. Half of my face hurts and burns, and the tooth in question feels like it's trying to crawl back into my skull. But this time I managed to eat a couple of cookies with a cup of tea in the afternoon, so I'm very proud of myself. I still can't speak, but since there's only Sakura here, I have no need to.

After coming back from the dentist, as I couldn't have lunch, I spent that time finishing The Almighty Johnsons. It's a great series, highly recommended to any of you who loved American Gods. In those last few episodes they introduced so many new arcs, I can't wait for the third season, it's going to be great!

Then there was this week's Cabin Pressure's episode, Wokingham, which was amazing. Completely different from what I was expecting, and I loved it. Our beloved characters have grown so much since the first season, it's so heartwarming. *__________*

Finally had my therapy session today! We had to skip two sessions because my therapist had a congress and a couple of emergencies this week, so today I talked twice as fast as normal to make up for lost time. I very much needed it, as yesterday I had a horrible, one-hour-long phonecall with a friend of mine who's suffering from depression. She's seeing a therapist as well, but she just started, and yesterday she called me and sobbed the whole time. I did manage to pick up her spirits by the end, but it was a very, very tiring experience for me as well. I had horrible nightmares all night, and woke up at 4 am screaming.

Today I feel much better. Therapy went great, the weather is lovely, and there was little to no acqua alta, so I didn't ruin my shoes. I did some grocery shopping on the way home, and decided to buy pineapple juice. It is my cousin's favourite, so I only buy it when she's here, and then she's the only one to drink it. I think I hadn't had any in years, and today I sat down with a glass of it and did my best Arthur Shappey impression for the benefit of Sakura before drinking it all in one go. It tastes better than I remembered, although I have to agree with Gerry here, it is quite acidic. XD

I had nothing planned for the afternoon, except ironing a bunch of laundry, but then I thought I could start on North & South, the BBC series. I was expecting it to be good, but I wasn't expecting it to be so BRILLIANT. The story was gripping, the acting incredible (besides Richard Armitage being absolutely glorious, if anyone knows of any other show or movie with the actress who played Margaret do rec please, because I'm utterly in love with her), and I only stopped once to change the dvd and make a cup of tea. At the start of the third episode Sakura decided she was bored and came to sit on my lap, then on my arm, then she sprawled on both of them, and started snoring. By the end of the fourth episode my right arm was all pins and needles. :D Anyway, such a great series, now I'd like to read the book too! Next on my list of "stuff Richard Armitage was in that looks good and therefore I must see": Robin Hood! Can't wait!

Two entries in one day, folks, because as previously stated I have the best friends ever. A package just arrived, and it was [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75's christmas gift for me, and it is BRILLIANT!

It's a Hobbit mug. With the whole company and the movie logo. I made the most undignified sound when I opened the package, you have no idea. :D

And this was what afternoon tea looked like today:

Toblerones are *so* good. Yes, I'm quite possibly the one person in Northern Italy who had never tried them before. Now I can see why Arthur is so fixated, they're incredible! \o/
nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
Oh my god, Cabin Pressure. I have no words to express how much I love this show. This season is so incredibly awesome I'm speechless, and that's very rare for me. I'm keyboard-smashing with my mouth, send help.

Spoilers for Vaduz in the comments, I'll be right back, have to run around the house squealing for a while.
nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> god)
This is your weekly Cabin Pressure entry. I just finished listening to Uskerty and it was so beautiful I think I'm going to cry. Full of character development, incredibly funny, fresh and original and now I want pineapple juice so freaking much.

Spoilers in the comments, as always!
nausicaa83: (<supernatural> L is for the way you look)
Let's face it, I have the best friends ever. Yesterday, after listening to the new episode of Cabin Pressure, [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75 called me on the phone and opened a Talisker bottle live to let me listen to the crack sound. How awesome was that?! I also made her promise we'll get toblerones in the London airport when we get there next June. :D

Today Tati and I watched the Merlin finale together, and cried our eyes out. It's actually even more beautiful the second time around, even if it's just as depressing. I've been eating chocolate coins since. Between that and my period I feel like I need a huge dose of chocolate.

My Stilinski hoodie finally arrived! I ordered it back in October, but they had to make it from scratch, then it took it more than a month to arrive from the States. It's so comfy and smells great and I can't wait to wear it next monday at the gym! \o/

Bonus picture, because I'm crazy like that, a photo of my computer screen while I was listening live to Timbuktu!

My Travelling Lemon hoodie was in the washer so I couldn't wear it, but next week I'm going to wear it and my airline captain hat too! *_______*
nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> gerti)
Obligatory Cabin Pressure entry, because I just listened to the new episode, Timbuktu, and it was GLORIOUS and BRILLIANT and I loved it so much.

I listened to it live, but I'm sure many of you couldn't and are waiting for a downloadable link, so I'll keep to the comments to talk about it. Spoilers ahead, everyone's invited! \o/
nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> gerti)
Obligatory Cabin Pressure post of the week, with the first recording taking place yesterday. Absolutely spoiler-free stuff, because I hate spoilers.

First, we have a recording gag reel. I laughed out loud while reading it, I can only imagine how funny it must have been to see it in person. :D

A few pictures, here, and here. From what I gathered, cellphones were forbidden, I have no idea how they managed to take these pictures. There are ninjas in this airdot. *_______*

As expected, the first two episodes cover the letters T and U. There's no guarantee that will be the airing order though. I would very much love it if V were Venezia, but I don't think it has much of a chance, what with Italy already having Cremona (which, incidentally, is my least favourite episode, shame).

I'm so excited about this new season! \o/
nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> god)
Attention, Cabin Crew, for we have news about the next Cabin Pressure season!

The new series of Cabin Pressure will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 for six weeks starting Wednesday the 9th of January, 2013.

2013 will definitely start with a bang. I'm so excited about this, you have no idea. It's been a tiring, nerve-wrecking day, and tomorrow doesn't look that promising either, but this piece of news put me in such good spirits!
nausicaa83: (<teen wolf> investigation)
More Cabin Pressure news!

First, on November 1 they're releasing all three seasons and the Christmas episode in the States, all in one boxset. I'm still very pissed off about it, seeing as I bought the three boxsets at a higher price, and didn't even get Molokai. Anyway, for those of you who were thinking about buying it, this is definitely the perfect edition.

Second, the Travelling Lemon project! Go here for the most recent update. They're planning on giving John Finnemore the book at a Cabin Pressure recording in December, and then we'll be able to buy either a copy of the book (way out of my price range) or a PDF, with the money going to charity. I'll definitely buy the PDF, I can't wait to see the final result! \o/

Real life news, yesterday I got triggered by the latest Downton Abbey episode, and it was very, very bad. It took me almost three hours to feel better, what the hell. I hate panic attacks. And I had to skip the gym too, what the double hell.

Today I'm feeling a lot better, though, I'm working on a project for my flat and it's going slowly but steady. Feeling very accomplished indeed. I just have to finish it before the winter starts. ^^

This was such a lovely day for some of my favourite fandoms! There are lots of wonderful spoilers on twitter coming from the Teen Wolf panel at NYCC, confirming what we already thought, that this show is indeed a wonderful gift from the gods. ♥

There's an update of the Travelling Lemon project here, with pictures of what the finished book will look like. And let me tell you, it looks amazing. *__________*

Tati and I bought the train tickets for Lucca Comics and Games, and she ordered new blue contact lenses for her Fem!Castiel cosplay. Now it feels definitely real, completely official. \o/

The Vampire Diaries season premiere was, as expected, brilliant. So many things happening, all of my theories turned out to be wrong. I love it when my shows prove me wrong. *________*

Tati, who is awesome, spent a good hour yesterday creating a Stiles and a Derek for my Rock Band band. She's so talented, she's the one who made Sherlock and John too, and as soon as she finished their wardrobe and instruments, I made them sing and play this playlist:

Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Hungry Like The Wolf - Duran Duran
Howling For You - The Black Keys

It's as good an occasion as any to remind all of you that most of the time I have the sense of humour of a twelve year old. Thankfully, Tati shares that with me, and we kept giggling and laughing all the way through it. After all, we constantly play Staying Alive just so we can watch Sherlock and John sing it and jump around while trying to steal each other's microphone. :D

EDIT: Also, COULSON LIVES. This day just keeps getting better and better! ♥

nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> sir's mind)
Just finished listening to the latest John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, and the announcer at the beginning said it was from the author and star of Cabin FEVER. And I spent a good five seconds wondering if it was a new show I hadn't heard about, and whether I could find torrents somewhere, until I realized she meant Cabin PRESSURE. For shame, Radio 4. For shame.

The episode was brilliant, though, so there's that. ^^

I'm back!!! And I'm staying home for a whole month, no more travelling for me until Lucca in November. It's great but quite tiring too, and at my core I'm a lazy cat. Brace yourselves for some beautiful pictures, a Frankenstein review, and some more deliciousness, keeping with this week's theme.

First, Danny Boyle's Frankenstein. My reaction can be thus summarized: hfakgsdasdggdsakfg. It literally blew my mind, and I'm still picking up the pieces. We got so unbelievably lucky, and got the version with Benedict as the Creature. Having seen that, I can't imagine the roles inversed. He IS the Creature, come to life from the pages of the book. It was amazing and like being punched in the gut at the same time, and may I send my thanks to [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75 for letting me crush her hand during a couple of particularly shocking scenes. It was an intense experience.

The bad side of the coin was that there was an entire high-school class watching it with us too, presumably because their English teacher hit her head before breakfast or something. They kept laughing, talking, and a few of them giggled during the rape scene. What the frigging hell. It was even worse that what was going on on the screen. Are teenagers really that cruel and dehumanized now? It's an horrific thought.

After that [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75 went back home, we two had Chinese for dinner (always yummy!), didn't sleep at all because the road just outside the hotel harbored tram rails, and there was a tram going every five minutes all night. On wednesday we had the whole day to walk around Milan, since our trains back were at 6 pm, so [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_yagami and I grabbed our stuff, got on the subway, and emerged in Piazza Duomo. I lived in Milan for a year when I was a kid, but seeing it with grown-up eyes, in the wonderful sunlight of a hot autumn day, it was a wonderful sight.

The Duomo. We wanted to go inside, but we were carrying our backpacks, and we thought they couldn't let us in. I braced myself, and asked one of the security guys if we could go inside anyway, and he told us there were soldiers checking the bags. So I approached the closest one and asked her if she could check my bag. I opened it, and started explaining to her the contents "we just left our hotel, see, so that's my pjs, that's yesterday's shirt, that's my make-up kit, oh, and there's a jar of marmalade somewhere in there", I looked up and noticed she was fighting back a laugh, and she nodded towards the entrance. It was both hilarious and weird. :D I couldn't take any pictures inside, but believe me, it's incredibly beautiful.

More pictures of beautiful Milan under the cut. )

This was [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75's birthday gift to me. It's Lemon marmalade. My Jam Now. And a pencil with GERTI on it and a cupcake for my bag. I'm still squeeing now just thinking about it, I have the best friends. :D

And today this was my breakfast. I woke up at 9 (I overslept, but hey, no trams!), and prepared the best possible breakfast for the Supernatural premiere. There was indeed much need of sugar and biscuits. The Stiles tea blend is now my favourite, along with Clint Barton. It's sweet and spunky and it has hints of cherries and cookies, it's amazing and funny. The cookies are the british ones, orange-flavoured with bits of ginger in them, so good. And the Winchesters are back with a new great storyline, all is well with the world! \o/

Yesterday there was a RedBubble package sitting on my doorstep, but I only opened it this morning while waiting for the tea to be done, because I have to be lucid to take proper pictures. I'm wearing the Supernatural shirt right now, actually. It's one Hell-uva shirt indeed. The Teen Wolf one reads "The Derek Hale center for werewolves who can't werewolf good and want to learn to do other wolf stuff too". :D

But the best part about that package is this Cabin Pressure hoodie. I needed one for the gym, I only have the one, a lilac Mickey & Minnie one, and I needed another for when that's in the washer. So I looked online, and found this one, Travelling Lemon 2012 championship. It had to be mine. :D

I loved going back to Milan, I loved Frankenstein, but the best part about it was meeting [livejournal.com profile] space_oddity_75 and [livejournal.com profile] tsuki_yagami in person. You girls are amazing, thanks for the great time together, and I can't wait to see you both again! \o/

The third boxset of Cabin Pressure is finally here, and sadly, there's no Molokai in it. It's the mp3 file for that, then. This is the opposite of brilliant.

Since the first booklet was written by Arthur and the second one by Douglas, the third one is Martin's. It features an adorable sketch of Martin's face as drawn by Douglas, a list of attempts at finding a place that rhymes with Paris, and the official logo for Icarus Removals!

Today I went to the comic book store and they were playing Iron Man 2 on the first floor, and The Avengers on the second floor. The always have a movie playing in one of the televisions, but this is the first time I literally stopped on the stairs to try and watch them both at the same time. :D
