nausicaa83: (<007> death)

This morning I went back to the dentist for the first in a series of surgeries to fix two damaged teeth. Rare pathology, etc. We did two sets of x-rays, four different shots, and the surgery lasted more than an hour and was very uncomfortable, then the doctor said he had to stop, close everything up, and wait a week. If it's all fine next week, we'll go on with the plan. If it's not, he'll have to take the tooth out. Oh joy. Me, I have to avoid hot meals, and survive the whole week on ice cream, cheese, cold and mushy things. Right now the left part of my face is swollen and throbbing, and hurts a lot, even with the painkillers. Tomorrow morning I have to call them, describe how my mouth feels, and then the doctor will tell me if I have to start on the antibiotics. Judging from past experiences, I'll probably have to.

My dinner is chocolate ice cream, and I can't feel half of my face. I've been feeling depressed all day, so after lunch I crawled under the blankets, turned my laptop on, and watched Disney movies until I fell asleep. Today sucks.

Oh you poor, poor thing.*hugs carefully on your right side* (I was going to write like a minute ago to ask about the dental saga!) I've been exactly where you are to the tee, more than once, and I really get that miserable state that you've described quite eloquently for someone who's right in the middle of it. I so hope it's all good in a week's time. Thank goodness for Disney movies and blankets. (What did you watch?)

*fierce hug*

I just got off the phone with my aunt, she's supposed to do the same thing next week, and she was very scared. I told her to ask her dentist if it can't be helped at all, if she can postpone it until next year at least, because it's a procedure that does hurt a lot. Stupid teeth.

I watched my two top comfort movies, Emperor's New Groove and Muppet Treasure Island (I can quote every line of those two movies in my sleep), and now I'm starting a Studio Ghibli marathon. Kiki's Delivery Service first, because it was mom's favourite, then maybe Porco Rosso or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Hayao Miyazaki is a balm for the soul.

Teeth are stupid, STUPID!! I sometimes give myself this creepy smile in the mirror just to look at my teeth and to try to love them - you get the idea, love yourself, etc. - and I often do love them, all the more that for all the GRIEF they've given me over the years, you can never guess that by their pleasant facade...but man, it's not easy loving them. The hurt, the procedures, the pain, the dazedness, the recovery, the dread when you go to the dentist every time...ugh. Oh, and did I mention the pain??? Sorry, I'll shut up now, but I feel you!♥

My sister got me to watch Emperor's New Groove a few years ago when I wasn't in a good place—it was a definite moment of respite for my poor soul at that time.:)

Teeth are stuuuuupiiid!!! *shakes fist*

I first watched Emperor's New Groove on my first archaeological dig back in 2003. I was stuck in the lab for two weeks, brushing bones and pottery with a toothbrush and cataloguing everything. Most boring task ever. A friend of mine had a laptop, and she had Emperor's New Groove and Legally Blonde downloaded on a cd. We watched those two movies every day all day while brushing human bones, it was awesome. Also insane. :D

Argh. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. But at least you can have ice cream (never was there a better medicine!) and watch Disney movies without any excuse.

Hope you feel better soon! *hugs & sends good vibes*

Stupidi denti e stupide cure canalari! *shakes fist*

Ora che posso mangiare solo gelato ovviamente ho una gran voglia di patatine fritte. Mi pare giusto.

Grazie! ♥

Ho appena iniziato la cura antibiotica, il gelato è davvero l'unico aspetto positivo della situazione. Uffa e strauffa.
