nausicaa83: (<cabin pressure> sir's mind)

Experts say the second major heat wave of the year will hit this weekend, with temperatures reaching 43 degrees. That means I bought groceries like for a seige, and even cleaned the air conditioning filters again, just in case. I'm ready. *cocks shotgun*

And because the universe has a weird sense of humour, today was also the day my Cabin Pressure wrist warmers arrived. They're adorable, but they made me squirm a lot while taking this picture. When it's 34 degrees outside it's hard to believe I'll ever wear wool again. :D

So now I have the hat and I have the straps on my arm. I'm all set! \o/

A few other wonderful things arrived. First, a Sherlock comic made by some of my favourite artists, telling the story of Sir Boast-A-Lot. Awesome. And the two seasons of Interrobang Studios' fantastic webcomic Ensign Sue Must Die. It's the hilarious and absolutely brilliant story of the Star Trek crew dealing with a new ensign, Mary Sue, and their attempts at getting rid of her. In the second season the Mary Sues cause a laceration in space and time and The Tenth Doctor, Sherlock Holmes, and many other beloved characters have to help Kirk's crew find and imprison the Sues. In Pokemon balls.

Seriously, just read it, it's fantastic. :D

Also, new blog banner! Yay!

Oh, wow! 43C?! Tell me it's not going to be that warm in Torino...
I'm travelling to Italy to play soccer (sorry, football) in the World Master's Game starting next week. We play five games in eight days--I'll die if it's this warm. ;D

Oh, and I love your Cabin Pressure wrist warmers! :D

I checked, it looks like Torino will have temperatures up to 34 degrees, which is good, but a lot of humidity, which is bad. I don't know how it is in Canada, but if you're not used to these temperatures, drink A LOT of juice and water and cold tea, everything and anything. I've lived in this witch's cauldron all my life and it can still affect me (last year we had seven heat waves, and once I even fainted).

I didn't even know you played soccer! *_________*

Oh gosh, the Cabin Pressure wrist warmers are INCREDIBLY cute and sort of accurate and just...Yes!:D Although I know what you mean about the oddness of having them now when it's about to get to boiling point outside. (I think we're having the same changes in weather here. So far not too bad for the summer but now the heat wave is coming.)

That 'Sir Boast-A-Lot' book looks great! Anything good in it?

(I hope you've been well or at least better on all fronts.)

I feel like I can't really complain, last summer we had seven heat waves, it was unbearable, while this time it's almost august and this is just the second one. Plus it's going to last only a couple of days.

That doesn't mean I won't whine all day when it hits, obviously, but I like to have some perspective. :D

The book is really beautiful, every page is a different artist and they're all amazing. Plus it's very colourful, like a children's book, so it's both lovely and creepy at the same time. :D

I'm a lot better! The infection is gone, or at least it feels like it is. I'm still taking my meds, but I don't have any symptoms anymore, so yay. Tomorrow I'm going to the doctor to update him on the situation, I predict lots of high fives will happen. ;)
