nausicaa83: (<person of interest> best friends)

Just finished watching Person of Interest. It's the start of the long wait until the next season. I never learn, I could savour a new show, let it last longer, since it's the summer, and yet everytime I burn through the whole thing in a week. I may have cut on sleeping hours. I blame the awesomeness that is this show.

I have so many theories for the next season, but I already know they're going to surprise me like they always do, no point in even trying. And I love how the plot twists never come out of nowhere, always have a point, a reason, that can be traced way back. And the character development is so realistic, they never go for cheap angsty scenes for angst's sake. I really, really love the writing on this show.

And the female characters! So many fantastic female characters, all competent, smart, great at their job, never sexualized, between this and Elementary it feels like someone has been spying on my Christmas list. :D And I want Shaw to join the main cast next season and be all snarky and sassy with John in every episode while they crash cars and shoot bad guys in the kneecaps.

They have the best soundtrack ever too, so many of my favourite songs! Sinnerman for Elias, The Future Starts Slow for Shaw, Gimme Shelter for Reese, I feel so loved. ♥

PoI fans, I'm waiting for recs. Fics, videos, fanmixes, you know the drill. Any pairing will do, I just love everyone so much I do not even have one OTP. Is there a thing as a "massive family otp"? There should be. :D

I love Person of Interest, there's so much the show does right I can't bear it, and I love where everyone has come from and where everyone is going. The female characters really are all brilliant, and they all have their own things going on, they're not just there to be part of the plot of the week. And the show isn't afraid of giving their characters character development, and the music and the visuals. I just - it's the only show I get ansty when I get behind with. Because I always want to know what happens next.

It's fantastic. No woman is ever sexualized, and it's a show full of spies. Not to mention all female characters are strong characters, but that doesn't mean they're all ruthless killers. I loved that. And I loved, loved, loved that Root isn't a villain because of some childhood trauma or something similar, she's a smart person, she sees the world in a certain way and behaves accordingly. She's truly a hero of her own story.

Or the fact that mothers aren't magical creatures like in Doctor Who, where their worth comes from their uterus, but are characters with lives and jobs and hobbies, who also have kids they would die for.

And when they had that wonderful lesbian couple and their storyline wasn't about their sexuality, and it was treated like any other number in the show and it was so perfectly normal? I love them.

I love everything about this show, the plot, the number of the week, the wonderful relationship between John and Harold, the music, the Machine's storyline, but I could really spend hours just talking about the female characters, they're just such perfect, complex, realistic human beings. ♥

I know exactly what you mean. I really do love how everyone is a strong character, stars, guest stars, women, villains. Everyone seems to bring their best and no one ever seems to be just there to fill a slot. It's a clever show, and it uses its cast, and almost never looks lazy. But it's also not afraid to make fun of itself. And Shaw absolutely needs to be in the next season.

But, yes, I loved how Root wanted revenge for someone else's childhood trauma, she knows what she wants to accomplish and she has no apologies at all. So I'm pleased the season ended how it did!

I checked, Shaw has been promoted to series regular (http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/05/person-of-interest-season-3-sarah-shahi.html). Oh my god, I can't wait for her and Carter to meet. It's going to be glorious. *_____*

I wonder if that last scene means the Machine will turn "evil". Its creator, as soon as he realized that it was a sentient being, lobotomyzed it and caged it. And then Root comes along and treats it like a real person. Not to mention The Machine spends every hour of every day monitoring the worst of humanity, it seems very plausable that soon it could think "what the hell, this species is rotten, I'm the next step in evolution!" and go HAL 9000 on our asses.

Oh that's the best news!

I wondered too whether it was going to have some sort of...reaction, to Finch's betrayal. Though I find it hard to imagine the machine wouldn't have known all along, considering it'd been trying to save its memories for a while, and it's still been helping him. I don't know. I'm just excited for it to be a character in the next season.

I also wonder if The Machine is going to contact John too, since he was an admin together with Root. Or if this is something that only Root can do, whatever it is the Machine wants. Or maybe it just wants to help Root getting out of the hospital because it wants everyone in its little family to be happy?

Seriously, we need a better name for the Machine, now that everybody knows that it's sentient. It's a cute duckling of superpowerful god-like entity, it deserves a proper name.

(I was re-watching Firewall yesterday, and it makes me so happy that the first one to address the Machine as a person is John. It would have never occured to me that it could be sentient, and yet he just walks right to it and asks for a helping hand.)

The bit where John first talks to the machine was my favourite piece of television for years. But, yeah, I like the idea of it having a collection of people that it talks to, and of it doing its own things in the background, contingency plans! I half believe that at some point it's going to pick its own name.
