So, we had a family emergency. I'm still waiting for more details, but long story short, my grandma had an accident - she slipped and fell and broke her shoulder - and now she's going to need surgery. So my aunt won't be able to come here tomorrow, because she'll be flying over to assist her mom. Hope it'll be as brief a recovery as possible, otherwise my grandparents will drive everyone absolutely crazy.
Anyway, since today is a national holiday here, we'll have more news from the doctors tomorrow, and I hope the surgery will be as soon as possible, because, I can't stress this enough, my grandma stuck in a hospital bed? She is going to drive my aunt up the wall.
So, yeah, a meme, because I'm bored out of my skull, and still waiting by the cellphone for further news.
What song are you currently addicted to?
Sail by AWOLnation, and We Are Young by Fun. I'm so mainstream, yo.
What books are you currently reading?
Accurate use of the plural there. Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by John Le Carrè and the Golf Omnibus by P.G. Wodehouse.
What’s the most enjoyable thing you’ve done today?
Reading a book sprawled on the couch while Sakura played with my toes.
What is the one skill you wish you had?
Being able to dance, maybe? Something with rules and steps, like waltz or tango, not just swaying to the sound of music. That would be nice. My gym teacher is trying to teach us how to mambo, and I'm a disaster.
What’s your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
*drumroll* Sherlock. Everyone is so surprised, I know. It's been 101 days since Reichenbach, and it's just like the first day. I'm so obsessed I sometimes have the crazy urge to burst out into a song about it, just like in a musical. That's how crazy about it I am.
What’s your favorite song to dance to?
I Want To Break Free by the Queen. Death by the White Lies. For something more on the slow, romantic side, definitely Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller.
What Web sites do you always visit when you go online?
LJ, DevArt, EZTV, Facebook, Yahoo Mail.
What was the last thing you bought?
I did some shopping yesterday, but it was mainly food and toiletries, so I'm not sure that counts. Going backwards, I'd say the Golf Omnibus book.
Which fictional character do you think you’re most like?
Dean Winchester, mostly his flaws and his relationship with his brother.
What recipe have you mastered?
All kinds of risotto. Orange salad. Dolce Turco (it's a sicilian chocolate salami). It's been a while since I last made Gaspacho, but that always tasted great. I should make it sometime this summer.
Do you get cravings? If so, what do you crave?
Oh man, all the time. Nutella, french fries, any kind of junk food. Greek yogurt. Oranges, although that is usually a sign that I'm about to have the flu.
What is the best place you’ve ever been?
London and Japan, no contest there.
What was the last meal you ate?
Pasta with sliced tomatoes. I could eat it everyday and never grow tired of it. Which is literally true, from April to October every single year.
Do you want to learn another language?
Most definitely, yes.
Six things you can’t live without.
Definitely my iPod. My Kindle too, my PC, at least one gaming console, my drumset, my Supernatural bracelet (I only take it off for medical exams, I can't imagine my arm without it).
Apart from your computer/laptop, what's in front of you right now?
The wristwatch I bought for my graduation, my pills, a heart necklace, a glass full of chocolate milk.
A favorite childhood memory?
Going to the museum with my family every sunday. Dancing to jazz music before going to bed. Playing "The Little Mermaid" with my dad (we were all fish living under the sea who had no desire whatsoever to leave for the shore). Waving from my window to the gondolas full of tourists - japanese tourists always waved back and said "hello!". Talking to the potted plants on the balcony because I had read somewhere it helped them grow.
What are you looking forward to?
Tomorrow, actually. We moved the Travelling Lemon day to tomorrow, and then in the evening Tati and I are going to see the Avengers.
What are you planning to do after you finish this meme?
Stare at the cellphone some more. Drink the chocolate milk, play the drums a bit, sort the mail.
Oh, and I'm finally up-to-date with New Girl. That show is so adorable, it's like hot cocoa and cutesy dresses and disney songs all wrapped up in a blanket full of puppies. That's how adorable that show is. ^^

Date: 2012-04-25 06:32 pm (UTC)There are a few answers that I can literally copy/paste for myself from this meme—I think you can easily guess the word for word ones.:D The one you wouldn't guess is about What is the one skill you wish you had? Dancing has always been my answer!:)
But! BUT! I HAVE BEEN READING THE GOLF OMNIBUS, TOO, OMG! (Re-reading, because I've read everything like a gazillion times, but still—Wodehouse is so prolific, what are the odds??:))
Can I just recommend ALL the Blandings stories? I think I actually love them more than Jeeves&Wooster, so you can imagine the kind of EPIC love we're talking about!

Date: 2012-04-25 06:42 pm (UTC)I'm so uncoordinated and clumsy, and I love watching dancers and ice-skaters so much. I love graceful creatures. My dad tried to teach me to slow dance, but it always ended up with me hugging him like an octopus with both arms and legs. Tati tried to teach me too, but I'm taller than her, so it doesn't really work. She's so graceful! *cries in a corner*
Tati's family is all golfers (they do professional matches and so on), and I've been surviving those conversations on what I learned from the Peanuts (like everything I know about baseball and tennis), so I decided I had to learn something more, and then I saw that book on the Amazon recommendations, what better teacher than Wodehouse himself? :D
Although now I want to read the Blandings stories instead. I found this amazing ebook torrent with all his works, and I was all set on starting the Jeeves stories next, but now I'm too curious! Which is the first Blandings one? *_______*

Date: 2012-04-25 07:04 pm (UTC)Blandings! BLANDINGS! (I am seriously excited. This is one of the few touchstones of happiness in my entire life—well, Wodehouse in general, but the Blandings Castle series in particular are just pure love for me.)
The first novel by order of publishing is "Something Fresh". The second one and arguably my favourite is "Leave it to Psmith" (The "P" is silent.) I would recommend starting with a selection of six short stories that to this day, twenty years since I read them for the first time, continue to make me laugh after countless re-reads and I consider them the height of British humour, or indeed, humour, full stop: "Blandings Castle and Elsewhere". (The short Blandings stories can be found under the title "Lord Emsworth Acts for the Best" or even just "Blandings Castle", I think.)

Date: 2012-04-25 07:12 pm (UTC)I actually have something very similar in my experience too. I first read Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K. Jerome when I was a kid, and it's still the funniest book I've ever read. I've read it countless times, it's the first book I bought in its original language (Penguin edition, back in high school), and it's losing pages everywhere. I love it so much I can quote every chapter, and it still makes me laugh just by thinking about it. :D
I must find the ebook! To Amazon!

Date: 2012-04-25 07:43 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you found the Blandings books on Amazon and that you ordered them!\O/ Will be looking forward to your regular picture post of goodies.:) (The ones that start with "Cupid and the Paint-Brush" are different short stories.)
