News and links, for I'm stuck here for another couple of hours and I'm bored. :D

The biggest Sherlock community, [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc is on hiatus. The community in itself was great, the users are amazing, and I met so many friends there, but I wasn't the only one who had a problem with the mods' administration, and now they decided to shut everything down for a while. So, for anyone who needs them, here's a bunch of helpful links for all your fandom needs. ^^

My personal recs would be my Bookmark Page on AO3, obviously.

And my Tumblr is here, just in case. I think Tumblr isn't a proper instrument for a fandom: it's great to share links and recs, but you can't properly comment and discuss with other users, at least not without spamming everyone, and I'm convinced that should be the core of it. But yes, if you're looking for links and recs, that is definitely the place now.

I'm trying to follow everyone from my f-list on AO3 and tumblr too, but in case I somehow missed you, drop me a line with a link here. ♥

On real life news, nothing much happening, but for Sakura still taking her syrup, and me crossing all fingers that it works because if I have to carry her another time to the vet during the next week she'll just pack her bags and leave. Definitely.

And Game of Thrones keeps getting better and better with every new episode, while making me cry for minor characters I didn't even notice I loved so much until now.

Tomorrow I'm going to visit a couple of friends I haven't seen in months, I'm so happy! We have so many things to talk about, and I missed them a lot! *___________*

The main problem was that they decided to make it a moderated community. That is, they had to check and approve every single entry, with over 11000 users. It's absolutely insane, no other big community does that. Anyway, they started having some debatable rules, and even banned some users who didn't follow them. I didn't like the attitude, but as Sheldon Cooper says, cathedra mea regulae meae, so I let it go.

As soon as the #believeinsherlock thing started, they made a few angry posts, that it was illegal, that spraypainting walls is a crime (they sort of made it sound like slaughtering a kid, but anyway), and that if anyone had even tried to submit a entry about that campaign they would have been banned forever and ever because they're bad fans and they make angels cry. Or at least that's the general tone of those posts, definitely over-the-top. Never mind that Steven Moffat himself tweeted about #believeinsherlock, and he was happy about it and the free publicity they got.

I think to the core it was simply a matter of "this is serious business". They acted like they were the fandom equivalent of Moses, having the keys to the Sherlock Fandom and deciding who should be in and who should be out. Ok, that makes them sound like Moses and Noah. You get the idea. :D

I think fandom should be happy-go-lucky, with a place for everyone, all you need is love love is all you need. Anything more than that, and it becomes petty bullying. It's stupid, but it can still hurt people.
