I just got the weirdest phonecall. Now, for the past few weeks I've been receiving several phonecalls, mostly at dinnertime, from a telephone company that wants me back. I moved to another one years ago, and every single time these guys called, I politely told them that I'm happy with my choice and that was the end of the matter. Fifteen seconds tops, and everyone was happy.

This particular guy, instead, said he wanted to know why I decided to do such a stupid thing as they obviously offer better plans, and that I must be quite dumb to refuse their offers.

I'm not sure how I managed to stay calm, but I made him notice that he had no right to call someone out of the blue, insult them, and then presume they'd see how wrong they are and sign up right away. Quite frankly, I added, being rude is the perfect way to alienate someone from your company forever.

At that point, he closed the phone in my face. Why yes. I'm quite possibly the first person ever who managed to have a guy from a call-center do that. And I was being polite too, even if I had every reason to insult him back.

He's lucky I didn't go Good Omens on his ass and send a demon through the phoneline. I've been watching Supernatural for years, now, I know perfectly well how to do it, thank you very much. :D

He was! I have no idea how he managed to land that job, but I'm damn sure he won't keep it for long. Well, I just hope it'll go to a nice person who needs some extra few bucks, like most of the call-center guys who usually call me. Even if at the end of the day they bother me just as much by calling me at ungodly hours, at least they're polite, and by the end of the phonecall we wish each other a nice day. ^^

Sul momento mi ha spiazzato, perchè in genere sono sempre cortesi. Quando l'ho schiacciato con la forza della mia logica, ha avuto una crisi di nervi da bambino di tre anni e mi ha sbattuto il telefono in faccia. Ho riso per dieci minuti buoni. :D

He's lucky it's really, really hard to get me angry. And I had just spent two hours listening to Cabin Pressure while doing my chores, with all the windows open to let the sun in. I was in such a Arthur-ish mood, even a jackass like that couldn't ruin it.

I can totally see where you're coming from! Someone (close to me, sadly) made me angry today and I left their work with my head throbbing. But then I put on my iPod and listened to "Ipswich" and I WAS a different person afterwards.:D

I also have the original version of Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines and Busy Doing Nothing downloaded on my iPod, and I spent the last two days learning every word. :D

The Bing Crosby one especially is perfect to sing in every kind of situation: in the shower, while hoovering, when throwing away the garbage. ^^
