nausicaa83: (<tsubasa> family)
Sorry for disappearing, but my aunt came to visit on thursday, and I've been enjoying all the wonderful family time! The heatwave finally arrived, and it's been pretty brutal, so on Sunday we all went to the mountains, my aunt, Tati, and I. To be precise, we went to Cortina D'Ampezzo, Tati's hometown, where they were having a summer festival. If you don't know where that is, it's the most splendid location in the Alps where they shot Bond movies and a lot of other films.

We were blessed with wonderful weather, a truly fantastic day! By noon temperatures hit 30°, which wouldn't be so weird here in Venice, but it's downright crazy up there.

The mountains were as beautiful as always. We ate local pastries (so yummy!), and bread and sausages at the festival stands. I couldn't eat much because the bus driver on the way up drove like a drunk crazy person, and it gave me an awful case of motion sickness. The pure mountain air helped a lot with that, thankfully, but it took a whole day for my stomach to settle.

Oh my, who are these lovely ladies? :D Not pictured: the sunburn on my arms, legs, and neck that I only found back home in the evening. Ouch. :D

More lovely ladies! As you can see I took my Kingdom Hearts tote bag out for a spin, to carry the jackets in case of rain. The rain did come, to be fair, but only five minutes after we left. Oh well.

My aunt left this morning, so I'm feeling a bit lonely. But I also got in a fight with a dumb bird who's been trying to steal from Sakura's food bowl for days now, so I guess it evens out. I honest-to-god grabbed a broom and shook it at the sky while shouting profanities, at 7 in the morning, on my terrace. I think the whole neighbourhood heard my plans of making blackbird pancakes. :D

Hello everyone, I'm back! It was a wonderful little holiday, so relaxing and refreshing. And it made me realize four years of hopping around at the gym did put my body back together after the cancer wrecked it completely. I managed to walk for hours in the woods, and my heart and lungs were up to the task, as if I were 16 again! It was a great feeling, indeed. *______* I took a lot of pictures, all of landscapes and clouds and mountains, after the cut you'll see a selection. And today I got three packages in the mail too! \o/

We were in Cortina d'Ampezzo, one of the most beautiful little towns in the Alps. Tati was born and raised there, and her family still owns her childhood home, so it was a lovely nostalgic trip full of reminiscing on her part. *_________*

Waste away tonight/Tonight my heart's on the loose. )

Here are the contents of the first package. Four new tea blends from Adagio Teas (all recipes by Cara McGee, obviously). The rest of the Teen Wolf teas will get here later. I still have to try any of them, as they only arrived a couple of hours ago.

These are what I bought in Cortina, and they're all Made In England. :D It's a beautiful teapot, that I needed so much since I have at least fifty cups but no teapot, and two conserves. There were many types, and they all sounded delicious. I went for Raspberry because of Cabin Pressure, and it's so sweet and delicious. The Rhubarb & Ginger one I chose because it was a taste I'd never tried, and it's amazing! Very delicate, sweet and spiced at the same time. ♥

And last but definitely not least, ReaperSun's Wreck fanbook is finally here! It's so beautiful, the paper is glossy and thick, it's such great quality. *____* And the Once Upon A Time boxset, just in time for the premiere next sunday!

As the subject line says, today is my last day here. Turns out my parents were right, taking us every summer to spend the holiday among the Alps, because I feel exceptionally healthy. My skin and my hair look pretty amazing, I sleep like a log at night and am super energetic by daylight, hopping up and down the woods like a bunny. Today the sun came out again, and we had to take off jackets and sweaters because the temperature went 20 degrees up in five minutes. I'm constantly humming and singing, and in a wonderful mood. Tomorrow we'll do the last bit of shopping, and start our journey back after lunch. *-*

Second day among the Alps, I'm having so much fun! Yesterday it was cold, stormy weather, and we spent the evening wrapped in blankets watching cartoons from the 80s. Today the sun came out, I took many pictures, and we went hunting for mushrooms. Tati grew up here, so she's the one who knows her way. We walked around for more than two hours, collected lots of mushrooms, and came back just before the rain came back. It was so much fun! And now her mom is cooking them, and the scent coming from the kitchen is heavenly. There's a real fire burning, I'm this close to start singing xmas carols. Possibly Arthur's versions. :D
