nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
We're back! Tati and I went to Florence for three days, to see Mumford & Sons in concert. The adorable [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko was our host, and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] juuhachi_go joined us. We had the most wonderful time, and I took a lot of pictures! And I fangirled like the rabid Assassin's Creed fangirl that I am, because forget years of classical studies, the important thing is I climbed these monuments with Ezio Auditore. :D

I'm a hopeless wanderer//I will learn, I will learn to love the sky I wander. )

I did a bit of shopping and got a birthday gift too, but I'll post pictures tomorrow. Today I have episodes to watch, my favourite fics have updated, it's going to be a busy sunday. ;)

I got an announcement to make, thanks to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko, on March 15th next year I'm going to a Mumford & Sons concert!!! Because she's awesome like that and checks the band's website for tour dates. It'll be in Florence, which is great because I've never been there, only drove through it once, and that's unacceptable, I know. :D

Weird anecdote of the day, I was in my friend's car going to the gym, and we were talking about Lucca. I was telling them about my cosplay, and all the while her niece was in the front seat, doing what I thought was checking messages on her phone. Not twenty seconds after I mentioned the word 'cosplay', she perks up and tells me:

Her: "You looked really good in it"
Me: "Thank- wait a minute, how could you know that?"
Her: "Isn't this you, in the miniskirt?"

And she shows me a picture of me with other cosplayers on her phone. Turns out she just had to write my name on her phone, and the internet gave her a picture in less than twenty seconds. A picture I didn't upload online, I have no idea where it came from, and it took her less time to find it than it took me to tell this story. This is witchcraft. Also very creepy.

By the way, we have a new lady in our gym group. She's very nice and everything, but she has a problem with rhythm. It's not like the other new girls, who stumble about for a while until they get it right. She moves in an entirely different rhythm from the song that's playing, as if she was listening to another song in her head. I have a feeling it's because she knows... mambo, or something similar, and just does that hoping it'll work. Which is incredibly weird, because she's standing right in front of me, with the teacher two steps further, and they move following entire different beats, and believe me, it gave me a headache. I'd rather die than tell her and risk embarassing her, so I'll have to move to another spot without her noticing. It's either that or doing cardio with my eyes closed, I haven't decided yet.

On the health topic, I skipped therapy today because I wanted to have another couple of days before going through all that "they found cysts in my liver" conversation again. I had it yesterday with my aunt, and it was brutal. She got scared out of her mind, and even talked about jumping on a train and rushing me to the ER to have it checked again. Thankfully, I managed to calm her down with the promise of talking about it throughly with my oncologist next month. Go for the breasts, stay for the liver.

I know that if the doctor didn't make a big deal out of it, it's not a big deal. But in my family it always started with a couple of cysts here or there, and ended in pain, so her reaction was to be expected. I'm taking a couple of days to clear my head and see if I can move my therapy session to sunday. ^^

Changing the topic, I started watching Arrow, and I really like it! Not a surprise, what with me being such a fan of Nolan's Batman. Yeah, new tv show that promises bucketloads of angst! I'll never learn. :D

There'll be a real life entry later today, with a few things happening, mom's anniversary, and that project I was talking about going smoothly (although I'm getting so tired of having men at work all over the house), but I just found this video and had to share it with my friendslist.

It's the newest Mumford & Sons video, Lover of the Light, starring Idris Elba. If those weren't reasons enough, it's also one of the most beautiful, touching videos I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Short update to tell you all that I'm feeling better! No emotional traumatic experiences for me today, thank you very much. Highlights of the day were:

- watching the new Supernatural episode, which confirmed that Jensen is a great director. And Sam couldn't get any more adorable even if he tried. Just saying.

- having a nice long conversation with my neighbour about ceilings, and stuff to stick there to isolate the room from the cold. In other words, slowly realizing I'm a grown-up now, because I actually enjoyed that conversation. God help us.

- listening to the last John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme episode. I now have that final hymn stuck in my head. I'm going to miss this show so freaking much.

- thanks to tumblr, discovering this amazing gem:

It's a cover of Not in Nottingham, from Robin Hood, as sung by Mumford & Sons. I must say, this might convince me that God does actually exist, because holy crap.

And most important, today I made my aunt laugh, during one of our daily phone conversations. With all the troubles with her mom being sick again, and tough shifts at work, it had been weeks since I last heard her laugh, so it was definitely THE best moment of the day. Go me. ^^

Bad news of the day: I hurt my left toe. I had to fix it up on the sink, with Sakura fussing over, and blood makes everything slippery! There was much cursing, but it looks like it's fixed now. Obviously it has to happen the day before I leave for Milan, where there'll be much walking around, what with the bus and subway strike. Curses.

And now on to the (many) good news. First, there's me leaving for Milan tomorrow, to see Frankenstein! Yes! I can't wait! I only have to print the maps left and I'm ready. Both the hotel and the cinema are close to the railway station, so there's that.

Then there's the Once Upon A Time premiere, and it was amazing! So many things happening, lots of squeeing involved, and this new storyline looks even better than the last. I love all the new characters, they opened with a Lou Reed song, and they even did a little homage to Harry Potter. I want to hug them all!

Today was also the day of much deliciousness arriving by mail. My order on the Fortnum & Mason website arrived four days earlier:

I re-stocked mine and Tati's British teas, the ones we bought in London when we had that wonderful afternoon tea at Piccadilly. And since I was there, I bought some orange and ginger biscuits, and a jar of sweets I had never heard of before, called Black Jacks. God, I love trying new things. *_______*

And the rest of the Teen Wolf teas arrived, ten days early! Now my tea cabinet is exploding, and since it's 50 cups of tea each, I'm covered until late 2014. I must avoid new fandoms at all cost, or I'll fall into temptation, order new teas and I literally don't have the room. XD Yesterday I tried the Derek one, and it was GREAT. A peculiar taste, it made me think of... woods, and fog, and then there was the aconite taste, it was great and all the while it needs time to be fully understood. I have no idea how that woman manages to make these blends that taste great and at the same time describe the character in question perfectly. :D

Then, there's the new Green Day album, which I fell in love with at once. I first knew them with their concept albums, so it was weird to have new songs that remind me of the old ones, but in a good way. I'm especially in love with Carpe Diem and Oh Love, I keep finding myself humming them. *_____*

And of course, I saved the best for last, with the new Mumford & Sons album. It was well worth the wait, it's absolutely amazing. I keep changing my mind about my favourite song, at the moment it's a death match between Lover's Eyes (which is my Derek Hale number one song) and Not With Haste, but they're all so beautiful my heart can't choose.

The next entry is going to be in two days when I come back. Or tomorrow, if I get bored and my phone has good reception. See you on the flip side of the safety demonstration. Ciao!

I'M BACK FROM VERONA! Well, I came back a few hours ago, on an early train, but since then I've been sleeping, with Sakura alternatively curled up in my arms or munching my hands. I had two wonderful days with [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko and [livejournal.com profile] juuhachi_go, and what a great concert, Mumford & Sons live are something else! This way for the pictures:

As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts//Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms. )

I'm already looking forward to the next concert! \o/ Such a wonderful experience, and the company was even more magical than the music itself. I love you, girls! ♥

day one • a song
day two • a picture
day three • a book/ebook/fanfic
day four • a website
day five • a youtube clip

Leaving in a couple of hours, for three days with [livejournal.com profile] juuhachi_go and [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko in fair Verona. There will be lots of fangirling, tourist stuff (like groping the statue of Juliet), and the Mumford & Sons concert! When they play The Cave I'm going to lose it, I just know it.

I'm taking my camera with me, so there'll be lots of pictures when I get back. ♥
