I feel like this post is kind of obligatory now.
1- Last season's cliffhanger was resolved by the Bee Gees.
2- When the Doctor did the exact same thing last year, it was a freaking robot with a tiny doctor inside.
3- The Bee Gees and a freaking robot. These guys can do cliffhangers, but they can't do decent payoffs to save their lives.
4- I have come to the conclusion that I don't care how he did it at all. Because it's going to be lame and anticlimatic. Yes, they're going to address the issue in the next episode, but I hope it'll take just a couple of minutes so that we can get to the really important stuff.
5- Which is, Sherlock's and John's reunion, how they'll save Sherlock's reputation, and hopefully, Sebastian Moran.
6- If I see another how-Sherlock-did-it post on tumblr that involves the Pythagorean theorem, I swear somebody will get thrown out of a window.
I'm going to use this opportunity to say that I'm sorry that this blog has turned into a BBC Sherlock blog. I have other stuff happening in my life, I swear. Like, today I got a new haircut, and dyed my bangs fuchsia, and the guy at the comic book store asked me if I was going punk and that made me grin like an idiot for a whole hour. :D

I'm worried that John will get married. ):

Date: 2012-01-21 05:35 pm (UTC)I'm not that worried about John being married, because that would be too complicated. They'd have to kill her off, like in the books, but then in a modern show they should address the topic of him being a widower, and all the emotional side to it, and it would take too much time away from the focus of the story.

Date: 2012-01-21 05:50 pm (UTC)In canon Watson is married during A Scandal in Bohemia but in the show in the adaption of that story he is not, so they can get him married and not kill her off to suit themselves.
I read an article with Moffat or Gatiss, don't remember who, where they said they might get him married. In 201 John says that they're not a couple and Irene says that they are a couple. Then he says he isn't gay and she says that she is and John doesn't answer. It seems that he kind of understands that he and Sherlock are indeed a couple, whether they are sexually attracted to each other or not. Also Martin said in an interview that their relationship is kind of a love story.
So, it seems that John wouldn't get married because he's already in a relationship, but if he thinks that Sherlock is dead and a long time have passed since his death than he might get married. /: I hope so though that he'll be too attached to Sherlock to get married in the time until Sherlock comes back.

There has to be a long grieving period, and it's not the best frame of mind to find new potential partners. I think John's depression got it covered. Especially if they plan to keep them separated only for a year, like I hope, covering the real life hyatus, and not three years.

Date: 2012-01-21 06:12 pm (UTC)I agree. In canon it's three years but I hope in the show it'll be less. If a year passes until John finds out that Sherlock is alive than I think it'll be quite out of character for him to get married. He lost the most important person to him in the world and it'll probably be hard for him to put his heart on the line again. I don't see him getting into a relationship for along time after the death. If he eventually gets into a relationship in the time until Sherlock revels that he's alive, then it'll probably take a long time until he gets married with that person. So yeah, it would make a lot of sense for him to get married after a year.
If Sherlock comes back after a year, or even two years, and they get him married in that time that would be really annoying.
