Yesterday my aunt and I decided to do something different and went on a trip to one of the most beautiful islands in Venice, the island of San Lazzaro Degli Armeni. Fifteen minutes by waterbus from San Marco Square, it's a very small island with just the Armenian Monastery and a beautiful garden. The monastery was built in the 18th century, and contains priceless armenian manuscripts, paintings, archeological artifacts. Lord Byron lived there for over a year, when he was working on the first English-Armenian dictionary.
Once a day, every day, at 15.25, there's a tour with a guide. When I last went there, with mom, 12 years ago, it was one of the monks doing the tour, this time it was a very nice girl. I'm happy to see they can afford tour guides now. ^^
It was a fantastic day, warm and sunny with a lovely breeze, so I took a lot of pictures. *______*

( This way for armenian boats, trees in bloom, starry skies. )
In conclusion it was a fantastic day, both to a wonderful real place and a distant lovely memory too.
