Remember how I was complaining this was going to be a tough week? It definitely was, and more. Yesterday I went to City Hall to replace my ID card and my mom's. Mine took five minutes, but as I feared mom's is incredibly hard to do. As it turns out, I have to take two pictures of her (comatose in a hospital bed), bring them to City Hall, then they'll send two inspectors to the hospital to check if she's in fact alive, and then I'll have her ID card. With one of those pictures on it.

The woman there was really kind and supportive, and told me they have to do this kind of procedure often, what with old people with mental illnesses, and she gave me all infos on how to do it. But as you can imagine, it was brutal. Just in case I haven't said it before, here in Italy we don't have anything like a living will, so even if mom (who, by the way, was a doctor) always said she would have never wanted to be in this situation, we're legally forced to keep her alive. And now, to add insult to injury, this. Taking pictures of her in that state.

I took a long walk back home, as walking always helps me calm down, and I talked with my aunt on the phone, who promised me she'll help me with the rest. And then I had to fight nausea and the urge to crawl into a fetal position under my bed and stay there for the rest of the day. Today I feel better, and the sun has come out after two weeks of rain and flooding, so at least there's that.
