Finally got around to watch Torchwood. It's been sitting on my desk for months, and I never watched it before because I got the ending spoiled multiple times, and then I said "what the hell". So far I'm halfway through the first season, and while the first couple of episodes left a me a bit cold, now it's definitely growing on me. But god, it's depressing. Every other scene I'm staring very intently at the background hoping the Doctor will jump out of nowhere and fix everything and then take everyone for a trip on the Tardis. Seriously. Also, Gwen reminds me a lot of a grown up Rose Tyler, so she's kinda my favourite. And I ship her a lot with Owen, although that makes me feel really guilty, because boring boyfriend and cheating and morals and stuff.
I love it how much Russell T Davies-ish it feels. As in his seasons of Doctor Who, where it's not really about the aliens, it's about the feelings. Oooh, a piece of weird alien technology, I bet it's going to do something that makes us question our morals, and get all very sad, but then we have each other to hold onto in the dark. While Steven Moffat's approach is more of "oooh, a piece of alien technology which disrupts the space-time continuum and does a lot of awesome stuff that you can't really understand, but it's still awesome".
Don't get me wrong, I loved the sixth season of Doctor Who, but man I missed the "feelings". With Davies it all feels... grandeur, and sort of like in ancient greek theater. Great characters, great struggles, Right and Wrong, Good and Evil, and Love. Everything sounds capitalized.
Definitely time to stop the rambling and have dinner!
