It's been a crazy few days. My family lives in Piemonte, just where a huge flood happened 17 years ago, and this weekend they were in danger of going through the same experience again. That means, three days of waiting by the phone with my aunt calling with bulletins as "I just finished taking all the things from the cellar upstairs" or "your uncle went by the river to check, the water reached the bridge". Luckly the sun came out yesterday, the rain calmed down, and the river is finally safe. Lots of people in Liguria weren't as lucky, though.
Me, I'm doing a lot better. The cough is gone, and yesterday I could go back to the gym. After a couple of minutes, I couldn't even catch my breath and I had to stop. In my defense, the instructor there was super caffeinated or something. Anyway, I managed to do almost all the exercises, and today every muscle in my body hurts, but hey, that's further proof that I need this. Unless it kills me. ^^"
The worst part anyway was when they cut my internet line, and I freaked out because I thought it was because of the weather, and I imagined this huge flood (in my defense, again, we had a flood here where I live a few years back), and then I called the customer service and it was just an average problem on the line. This weather is killing me. I can't wait for the snow, when there'll be no more flooding and rivers going crazy.
Not to forget, it's acqua alta season. That's when downtown Venice gets flooded. It's perfectly safe, as it's clean, still water, not running mud, but it's annoying as hell. And since my therapist sits right in the middle of it, I have to remember to wear boots when I go there. And when I do, I put Nancy Sinatra on loop in my iPod and march along to the rhythm of the song. Good times. :D
