Cinema update!

- Do the right thing - At last! I wanted to watch this one since ages! It was really good, especially the direction. I liked how the shots were always taken from unusual angles. The script was really interesting too, and it was easy to see how much it influenced Tarantino, as he made Mr White quote this movie. ^^ I cried at the ending too. Embarassing, I know. =_=

- Goodfellas - Wow. I can just say "Wow". I so much needed a great movie like this one. De Niro was amazing, even if I had loved to see him in more scenes. Joe Pesci was creeeeeepy, and Liotta was perfect. But still, the best thing about this movie is how Scorsese used the music in it. Not only the (in)famous Layla sequence, which made me squee in delight, but every other song was perfect in every scene, as it was written for it. And for once they chose italian songs that aren't totally crappy for the mafia reunions. ;)

- Superman returns - Mmmh, what can I say? I didn't like it. It was toooooo long, and it felt as they didn't know where to go with this one. I think the biggest flaw was how they kept quoting the first two movies. I loved them as a kid, but now that I'm no more 8 I can see how stupid they were. Lex Luthor made no sense there as well. His stupid plans to get power by destroying the planet can't be taken seriously. And then, they tried to put some character development which totally failed. I think the only character who you can really like is Richard. The only thing worth two hours of my time was the CGI. Beautiful flying sequences, but that's it. And for god's sake, stop all that Superman/Christ stuff before I kill myself! It would have been good as a little hint, but it was too much. Father/Son, Crucifixion and so on... too much. And now I'll go and re-watch The Usual Suspects, just to remember why I loved Brian Synger. =_=

My cold is slowly going away, though it's really hard to sleep at night, as I can't breathe (stupid nose). So I sleep only four hours a night and read for the rest of the time. Thus, I'm out of books again. I must make a raid to the bookstore downtown! The weird thing is that I'm constantly hungry, while usually, when I have a cold, I lose my appetite. I think I'll go and eat something...
