nausicaa83: (<madoka magica> time after time)

It's been a weird couple of days. That is, because my new glasses arrived, and it's been taking me a while to adapt to them. My eyesight on the left eye is better, and that's throwing my brain in a loop, because it's used to not seeing anything from that side. It's very confusing, I keep getting distracted by anything that moves on my left. And it's also very exhausting. I remember this being way easier when I was a kid! I remember Mom making me do all kinds of exercises while wearing new glasses to train my brain: connecting the dots, etc. This time, because I'm a lazy, lazy adult, I started watching Red vs Blue on Netflix while sitting on the far side of the room. Close enough. :D

Seriously, how do people see like this all the time? It's exhausting!

Plus my therapist has been away all week, and huge changes with no therapy is a recipe for endless whining. I took a picture of myself with my new glasses for my aunt, but I was squinting and focusing and all, and she says it looks like I want to destroy the camera with fire. So I'll wait and ask Tati to take a nicer picture to post here when we see each other next. ^^

By the way, I wrote this entry while wearing my new glasses - they're not meant to be used for reading or using the computer, so I'm sitting as far away as possible from the monitor with the wireless keyboard on my legs. Any mistakes, blame that. I'm still going to use the old glasses for desk activities, and it's the most grown-up thing that's happened to me ever since I turned 30. Look at me, world, I have two different kind of glasses! I'm basically fifty now! (yes, I find that weirdly great!)

And off-topic, I just finished season 6 of Red vs Blue, and holy shit what a plot twist! I liked the first seasons with their jokes and all, but ever since they went plot-heavy I'm absolutely loving it!

Getting dizzy now, I'll just go and stare at a fixed point for a while. Good times.

Argh, I understand the feeling, hon. I'm short sighted and astygmatic, so it's always a nightmare when I need to get new glasses. Last time, it took me about two weeks to get accustomed to the new ones, because my sight had worsened slightly and the frame of the new glasses was also different. I got a few headaches because of that, and couldn't drive after dusk because I didn't trust myself not to drive into a tree or something. Oh, well. I eventually got used to the new glasses, and now I can't do without them.

Oggi li ho messi per la prima volta fuori di casa, per fare una corsa veloce al supermercato. Sensory overload è dir poco! Mi ci vorrà davvero tanto per abituarmi. Aiuto che fatica...

Can´t wait for the picture with your new glasses :) I hope you will get used to them soon!

I also got some new glasses a few weeks ago and for the first few days I felt like a gold-fish in a fish bowl o.o

That is a great image, that's exactly how it feels! Today I wore them again outside for twenty minutes, and I felt slightly better, although there was still a lot of sensory overload.
