I watched it again with Tati, and I'd completely forgotten that first conversation with Castiel. My brain just recorded the fact that they were so cute and considerate with each other, and failed to notice what they were actually talking about. :D
Although I think the problem lies with this mysterious incident. From what we can gather, Sam and Castiel were actually working together trying to find Dean, but something happened, something involving a dog according to Crowley (maybe a werewolf or a hell hound?) and a demon, and Sam's shoulder got busted.
And then something happened six weeks ago with Dean, and I think that's probably what brought the New Hunter in. Maybe Dean killed NH's brother? Something like that? And in that occasion he almost turned full demon, but Crowley managed to help him.
Speaking of which, I wonder what that means. Dean is obviously a Knight, and he can do the black eyes thing, but maybe he can't do the smoke thing yet? Nor possess anyone?
Boy, we need to see so many flashbacks! *_________*
