nausicaa83: (<child of light> aurora)

Another crazy week has passed, with some of the weirdest weather this year. Yesterday I was downtown with a friend, and we got caught in a storm while having icecream. Today it's so hot I wore a tank top and shorts to the store, and Sakura is sprawled on the floor under the air conditioning unit. I haven't turned it on, but she isn't giving up hope. :D Real life is still hard, especially because I've had to cut down on therapy sessions this month, but it should all go back to normal starting next week.

Today I finished playing Child of Light, a stunning RPG recently released by UbiSoft. It's the story of a princess, Aurora, who wakes up from a sleeping curse in a dream world of fairytale creatures, and with the help of various friends she has to fight the Queen of Night and her daughters to free her people and save her father. Think Okami meets Mozart's Magic Flute. Here's a few screenshots:

The combat system is simple and elegant, and there's platform sequences and puzzles to solve, and a second player can use another controller to play as the little firefly. Otherwise, the main player controls both Aurora and the firefly at the same time. It's stunning, poetic, everything that I love about videogames all wrapped in one. And the special edition comes with a poster of Aurora by Yoshitaka Amano! *_____*

Tonight Tati and I are going to the cinema to watch X-Men Days of Future Past: I'm trying to keep my expectations low because the first one is one of my favourite movies ever, and then they went and changed the director, but the first reviews are coming in and they sound good. Even while crossing fingers and toes, it would still be worth it just for the cast alone. ♥

Wow, that looks great! I really need a new game to get into. I haven't been crazy about a game since Dragon Age II (then Dragon Age I again, afterwards). I think it might be nearly time for a new console though. I'm still on the old 360, although I'm sure there are still plenty of gems to discover for that.

This would be a great time to get a PS3, as they come cheaper with the new PS4 in stores. Another great game you should check is Okami (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZloCD06QjiE), which had a HD remaster last year. Kingdom Hearts just had a remaster collection for the PS3 too, you can get it for 20 pounds here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingdom-Hearts-1-5-Standard-Edition/dp/B00BJE37WO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401094420&sr=8-1&keywords=kingdom+hearts+1.5), and it's my favourite game ever and I never shut up about it. Plus later this year they'll release a second remastered edition of all the other games in the series in one disc, so you'll get all games in the series for 40 pounds. *______*

Another great game for the PS3 that comes to mind is Heavy Rain (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKPPdgBK3r8). It's a completely interactive movie, a very unique experience.

These are just the first ones that come to mind when I think "mindblowing game that ate my life". Dragon Age goes without saying, as I'm saving money to buy a PS4 just for Dragon Age III. It's going to be amazing. *_____*
