Great real life news, my aunt is coming on monday! She bought the ticket yesterday, and then she sent me grocery shopping so that when she arrives we can make frittelle di carnevale. I love my aunt. ♥
My mouth feels a lot better, I'm eating proper warm food again, it's great. Today the weather took a turn for the worst, and my cellphone started beeping frantically with texts about the acqua alta (I'm registered to a site that sends texts and emails about the tide every day), but me, I was happy and warm in my armchair playing Lightning Returns. Speaking of which, just before lunch I defeated the final boss (in 11 minutes, go me!), and then proceeded to cry my eyes out during the finale. What a beautiful, perfect ending to a great story, one that I've been following for four years. I love all these characters, and it was so sad to say goodbye to them, but it was such a wonderful ending I can't help but feel happy.
And now I have this urge to start all over again with the first one. ^^

Date: 2014-03-01 03:52 pm (UTC)My mom used to make a Sicilian version of frittelle called the "zippole". They're savoury, not sweet like the frittelle, and very tasty. There was a step to the recipe where she had to leave the dough near something warm for a couple of hours, to let it grow. She used to put it in a big pot, cover it, and leave it on top of the radiator in the bedroom. There was this one time she forgot to set an alarm, and I remember us sitting in the dining room doing homework, and suddenly there was this huge "BANG", and my mom cried out "ZIPPOLE" and rushed to the bedroom, and there was dough everywhere. On the furniture, on the bed, on the ceiling.
She never made zippole again. :D

Date: 2014-03-02 12:11 pm (UTC)At the moment I´m doing my thesis for university and to earn some money I´m working in a chocolate factory which is quite a lot of fun! I´m selling the sweets and people love it! We´re making "chocolate kisses", I don´t know if there´s a proper english word for it. They look like this: http://www.wirtschaftsgeschichte-rlp.de/industrie-handwerk/a-e/eugen-trauth-soehne.html

Date: 2014-03-02 12:30 pm (UTC)I've never tried making zippole, they're quite complex. To be fair I haven't forgotten anything on the stove/in the oven/rising in a pot yet, so at least there's that.
Now I'm going to raid the kitchen for some chocolate.
