New chapter in my adventures in pâtisserie, this time with Tati's help! This morning we decided to make mini applepies, using one of her recipes that we call "Dean's Pie". Tati had already baked a regular-sized pie the other week, and I thought we could use the baking-pans from the mince pies I made a while back and make mini pies! As it turns out, they were absolutely delicious. *_____*

The hardest part was getting the lemon powder from the peels, it takes more time than one would think, and I always come very close to peeling some skin off my thumb as well.

While Tati did most of the work, I did the cuts on the pies, and it surprisingly feels a lot like performing surgery on the dessert. My mind goes to weird places sometimes. :D

Smelled like cinnamon, apple and a faint trace of tangerine. ;)

Perfect! ♥
Today I finally watched The Hunger Games movie. I had never wanted to, because the concept horrified me, but I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence, and was intrigued by what I had read about her character, so I sat down with one of my mini-pies and watched it. Two hours later, my thoughts about it are quite simple. I still think the concept is horrifying, and while I agree on the importance of criticizing reality tv and the desensitization of violence, it makes absolutely no sense that parents would willingly let their kids be taken away to slaughter without saying a thing. That kind of situation only works when people are dehumanized by society first: slaves, for example. But simple kids? No way. Anyway, besides that, Katniss is truly an amazing character, and Jennifer Lawrence is stunning, such a great actress. I found some scenes to be very harsh and quite frankly I was astonished this is supposed to be a movie aimed at teens. Most scenes are about a bunch of adults physically and psychologically torturing a bunch of kids, and having fun watching them being slaughtered. What the hell?!
I'm probably going to watch the next movies, mostly for Jennifer Lawrence, but I don't think I'll bother with the books. I can stand that kind of horror for two hours, definitely not for the time it would take me to read two whole books of it.
