I had forgotten how much I loved Yann Tiersen's music. It's like an injection of pure bliss. I'm listening to my old cds, and god, these songs take my breath away.

Even with the nice cover I bought a few days ago, I knew I had to follow [livejournal.com profile] serepink's advice and buy a gelaskin for my Kindle. I can be very clumsy, and I want to save it from scratches for as long as I can. The problem was choosing the right one. There are so many beautiful ones on sale out there, but as soon as I saw this one, it had to be mine:

It's from Van Gogh's Blossoming Almond Tree. Mom and I loved and worshipped all the Impressionist painters, and were absolutely crazy about Van Gogh, and we went to so many exhibitions that I can safely say I've seen a good 90% of his work in person.

That's the little bag I bought back in Rhodes and that I use for my iPod and spare headphones. In 2010 I spilled coffee on my old iPod and headphones, in the Turin airport, at 6 am, just before boarding the flight to Egypt. And it was the only pair of headphones I had for a whole week in Marsa Alam. Luckly my aunt managed to milk out the coffee (strengthening my conviction that she's in fact a very powerful witch in disguise) and they started working again, although they smelled of coffee the whole week.

Since that fateful day, I always carry two spare headphones in my bag. Better safe than sorry and smelling like breakfast.

I'm no fan of Kindles, but that gelaskin makes me want to have one.

I squinted to see what story was on your Kindle because the letters were quite visible—and because I am a geek at heart and gadgets excite me.;) I must say, my smile when I started distinguishing the words could have probably lit half the city.♥

This is an absolutely beautiful case! I adore the Impressionists and have gone to many an exhibition in pursuit of enjoyment from their works. (One memorable one in Florence, on that same trip to Italy when I visited Venice. They had some cool multi-media project that allowed you to look at the picture from different angles and gave you an insight into the techniques of the artists.)

I was lucky to spend a few hours in Van Gogh's museum in Amsterdam a few years ago where The Blossoming Almond Tree was—simply breathtaking! There was a special exhibition called "The Colours of the Night" for which the museum had gathered Van Gogh's works, depicting night scenes, from all over the world. They were amazing! My time in the galleries of that museum is one of the most wonderful artistic experiences of my life.

Anyway, I hope your Kindle never suffers in its beautiful case.:)

My thought process went something like this:

"I need to take a picture of the new cover. But I don't like the screensavers that much. I could just turn it on on game of thrones since it's what I'm reading at the moment. OH WAIT. Operation Easter Egg is GO!"

Can you believe I still have to visit Florence? I drove through it, with a friend, two years ago, but I have never stopped and visited it properly. Unacceptable. Considering my studies, and considering all the hours I spent in Virtual Florence in Assassin's Creed!

I already dropped my Kindle once, but the strawberry cover is well-padded and it didn't get a scratch. I swear my heart skipped a couple of beats there, though. Why am I so clumsy, whhhyyyy? (answer = because I haven't done any serious sports since when I was 12 and I'm unbelievably uncoordinated, but I'll still blame it on fate and cruel destiny)

Well, I was very happy with my discovery!\O/ (It's also very odd to see my text like that! I'm used to seeing it either on the Word file I use, with my particular way of formatting, or on my LJ which has its style, too.:))

I loved Florence! I think you'll want to stay there for days with your studies in mind!

The best part isn't the font, it's the grey, opaque background that's so restful for my stupid eyes. I have a hundred problems with my eyesight, and sometimes even white papaer sheets can be hurtful after a while and with the wrong light, but I was so delighted when I found out this screen helps me rest my eyes while reading. ^^

I KNOW. And Rome??? I have never been to Rome! We passed very close to it on the bus to Pompei on my first year of University, and my Roman Art Professor said "and on the left you can see two of the seven hills of Rome" and 50 of us students almost derailed the bus by running to the left side at the same moment to see. We got a huge scolding, didn't see anything, and I still want to go there so much!

The third city I visited during my week in Italy was Rome.:D

When I start travelling again, hopefully one day soon, I'll definitely go back to Italy. I'll give you a shout then—I don't mind visiting Rome and Florence again, not to mention Venice!:)

Definitely! I can be a great guide, I know every little spot in Venice and I can cook you all sorts of italian dishes! I'm actually pretty good at cooking, if I do say so myself. :D

That's perfect, because like Douglas Richardson I'm just terrific in general.:D But unlike him, I don't have to think about something I'm not good at—I know what it is. It's cooking. Eating, I quite like.:)

From: [identity profile] nausicaa83.livejournal.com
I quite like eating too. :D

First and most important lesson of cooking italian food: never ever put meatballs in the spaghetti. They're two separate courses, and it's a blasphemy against everything that's holy.

It's true.

And while you're at it, go easy with the cheese. It should be just Grana in the pasta, all other kinds of cheese should be served separately. (yes, I seriously care about this :D )

Now I'm feeling like pasta. And I just had dinner. This month PMS came in the form of a crazy case of the munchies.

There is no danger of my getting anything wrong—the height of my cooking is scrambled eggs. I'm serious. I'm sure that if I push myself I will be able to make something more complicated, but I don't like cooking one bit, and every time I've tried it, my IQ has dropped phenomenally. Honestly, things that are perfectly logical just evade me. I know the answer: It's because I so don't want to be doing it, that my brain protests and shuts down.:)

I adore Italian food, though!*drools* Enjoy your meal.:)

(I'll also copy and paste your message and send it to my sister who does cook and likes it, and will appreciate the advice!)

A couple of years ago I got this huge Disney recipe book: the recipes are all real and professionally written, and every one of them has a disney movie attached, and lots of pretty drawings, I love it. It adds a lot of fun to the process. :D

If your sister has any question about italian cooking, just let me know, I'd love to help. *____*

Ma è splendida!!! Sembra un quadro giapponese!!! Bellissimo!

That skin is amazing! My favourite van gough painting. I went to Amsterdam to the van gough museum when i was about 18. It was breathtaking. My other favourite place is the pre raphalite room in the tate britian. Amazing paintings.

I havn't got a kindle, are they good? i've been considering getting one.

The colours are so bright, and the texture is more like paper than plastic, I'm so glad. And from what I read I can take it off and put it on again if I want to - although I never ever will, because I'm sure if I do I'll just rip it. ^^"

I'm loving mine. Very easy to read, it's nothing like a laptop or a cellphone screen, it literally looks like a real paper page. It's uncanny. And so useful, I carry it in my bag everywhere. I have more or less 200 fanfics and 60 books in there, and it's still almost empty.

And I can never stress this enough, fanfics. ♥
