nausicaa83: (<paprika> sexy)

As on saturday my bidet broke down (yes, that's what I call a tragedy), today I called the plumber, and the nice girl at the phone told me that it's a very simple thing to fix, and as she doesn't want me to spend any money, she told me how to do it myself. I told her I'm a very weak person, and after a gym accident when I was 12 my right wrist is almost useless, but she convinced me to try. So next thing I have to buy is a suction cup or something, and then we'll see.

Cinema update! During the weekend I watched Mallrats, Jersey Girl and Scoop. Mallrats was a bit disappointing, it had some funny sequences with the usual Smith-esque dialogues, but it looked like he wanted to reach a larger audience with a "commercial" sort of movie. Jersey Girl was disappointing too, I have seen that sort of (tv) movie a billion times, and this one had nothing to make it feel different from the rest. But the soundtrack, which features Landslide sung by Stevie Nicks, and Bruce Springsteen's City Of Ruins, there's nothing really interesting to this one. About Woody Allen's Scoop: Allen is one of my favourite directors, but I think he's repeating himself a bit too much. I liked the story, and the ghost parts, but the whodunit part was so lame. And what was the purpose of Allen's character? Johansonn had absolutely no need of him story-wise. But thanks for quoting Monsier Verdoux at the end! ;)

I also watched The Cube: well, I liked it, even if there were some serious bloopers about all the math tricks (645 isn't a prime number, and you don't have to think a lot about it. And no, you don't need RainMan to figure all those factors or primes out). Another thing that felt like the weak link of the story is this:

Quentin: But why put people in it?
Worth: Because it's here. You have to use it, or you admit that it's pointless.
Quentin: But it *is* pointless.
Worth: Quentin... that's my point.

Sorry to disappoint you, but (at least here in Italy) we have lots of things, like bridges or high buildings that were built just to recycle money, and now they're there, absolutely pointless, with no one using them. So people do make pointless things and then leave them. As this is the only explanation for the Cube's existence we can get, it felt really, really weak. Besides that it was nice sci-fi at its best, scary and everything. Good movie. ^^

I also watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo), that anime that won lots of awards last year. I highly recommend it, it's beautifully animated, has some funny moments, and the story is intriguing. The ending left me a bit confused, though, I defintely have to see it again.
