At last I watched the Devil's Advocate. Wow. Even if I knew pretty much everything (a friend of mine watched it back in high school, and got so scared she had to tell me all the story and every detail about it, as if it was a nightmare XD ), I still was on the edge of my chair all the movie. What a great film! And most of all, Al Pacino. He was...hot as hell! (gets shot) Great acting, and so much sexy, he was exactly how I think Satan would be if he was real. Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron were really good too! I loved how they didn't put too many visual effects for the demons, as we absolutely didn't need them. The Devil just sits there and waits for men to fall into his traps. It was funny to notice all the little references to popular belief about Satan, that really awakened the little anthropologist in me! ;) There was a scene that made me smile too: when Satan's daughter undressed, I remembered my Art teacher back in high school, when talking about Goya's two Mayas, he told us "Women are a lot sexier when they're dressed than when they're naked. The Maya Vestida is a lot more exciting than her counterpart, the Maya Desnuda". Maybe because that was such a "visual" scene, the colours, the moving sculpture, the fire, it all made me think of those pictures.
And now, on with the main song! I still don't know why they chose this one (why didn't they go for a much more obvious Sympathy for the Devil?), but still the rhythm was perfect for that scene. (And Al Pacino was still hot as hell...)
Paint it Black
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens every day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black...
