Of birds and lack of sleep.
Aug. 31st, 2014 02:22 pmLast two days at my aunt's place! I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my uncle and aunt live in the countryside. Yesterday I spent the whole day running after chickens, eating berries from the bush, scratching mosquito bites, looking for fox tracks in the woods. I felt like I was six, it was exhilarating. After all, I've always lived in a town, I'm used to stone, water and boats, not trees and animals. It's great!
Then last night I had to suffer the other side of the coin, as a barn owl decided to sit outside my window and scream its screeching song from midnight to 4am. To give you an idea of the ordeal, this is the sound that horrid bird does. Imagine that, repeated on loop for four hours.
Around 2 am, I grabbed my Kindle and started reading the first thing I could see (I still have a bunch of books I downloaded before leaving for London), and it turned out it was the first Miss Peregrine book. Not exactly the kind of appropriate reading for two am, with a freaking owl cursing the world just outside the window. In the dark the pictures looked super scary. It's a miracle it didn't give me nightmares those three hours I could finally catch some sleep!
Tonight I'm sleeping in my cousin's room, as she's going to Turin for a day because of university exams. I hope the stupid owl won't follow me!
