If you're in the SPN fandom, you know the fans are calling the current season "season gr8". I love puns, and I love this season, so I've adopted that nickname too. But it was only with yesterday's episode, Pac Man Fever, that I can say this is truly the best Supernatural season. They could have made an adventorous, crazy and quirky episode and it would have been great, but instead they chose to give us 45 minutes of great character development, a beautiful storyline, not about monsters, but about the characters, the people who live in this universe and fight and love each other and grow and learn.
Yes, I loved it for pretty obvious personal reasons too, but it's so easy to take that topic and make it soppy, or cold, or unrealistic. The writers of SPN instead gave us a delicate, realistic, loving story, full of respect for those who live that situation everyday.
Not to mention the superbe acting. Jensen Ackles and Felicia Day were absolutely stunning. They were never exaggerated, always delicate and respectful, and gave us a performance miles above what we usually see in television.
