Just came back from seeing Sherlock Holmes - A Game of Shadows! Now, besides comparing every other scene to the BBC version I enjoyed it a lot. It has a slow start, but the second part is amazing. Lots and lots of fanservice, it sometimes felt like they didn't want us to concentrate on the plot, but I held my ground and figured out Moriarty's evil plot way before Holmes. We kinda went from subtext to text to a weird land of I'm-not-sure-what's-going-on-here-are-they-married-or-something to the country of the-only-way-Mary-can-survive-this-is-if-they-all-end-up-as-a-happy-threesome.
I'm really looking forward to watching it again on bluray. I have to admit, a reviewer I read a few days ago was right, the BBC version kinda ruined these movies for us, we can't help but comparing everything. First time Moriarty and Holmes were in a room together, all I could think was "this is so anticlimatic, I prefer the pool scene". So, good job on me not comparing the movies to the books (that's the best way to ruin a movie), but I still have to work on emptying my mind before the movie starts.
Anyway, it's a beautiful movie, very Guy Ritchie (a lot, way more than the first one), female characters get a lot more lines, the second part is great and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Lots of laughs too. :D
