Sam and Dean's interactions are exactly the same as it was for me and my sister, that's the primary reason I fell in love with the show. There's an episode later on when Dean says something to Sam that I told my sister, word by word, years ago. But, yeah, even so I can see why everyone ships them, even if it creeps me out. Me, I'll be on this other corner happily shipping Dean and Castiel. :D
My OMG mode started by the end of the second season, although the final episodes of the first season got a "holy shit that was amazing". By the time the third season started, it was my favourite show forever and ever with a cherry on top. :D
The X-Files feeling was there for me too, not to mention Kim Manners was producer and director of both shows (he died during the fourth season, sadly).
