Can I just say that The Vampire Diaries is one of the best shows ever? Let me explain why. One of the main themes is death, and grief. Yesterday's episode, Memorial, was all about learning to let go of your loved ones after their death. That last scene made me cry my eyes out, actual sobbing, with snot and red eyes and all the package. And yet, it didn't trigger me at all, like Downton Abbey did. It felt cathartic, like taking poison out of a wound, that feeling when a painkiller finally starts working and the body stops hurting.
It's not only a great show, with complex, flawed, beautiful characters, but it's like a good 40 minutes of free therapy on the side. I wish I could hug this show.
