I completely agree with you the BBC would be killing the Golden Calf and what with all the discussions about the costs and everything they wouldn't want to. But I can imagine Moffat and Gatiss worry about artistic integrity. They, and the actors and everyone else from the set designers to the composers, have set such an amazingly high standard I can imagine it must lead to an overwhelming pressure, trying to keep everything at that level. To be honest, I liked ASiB a lot, contrary to what a lot of other people felt about it (it did give us Sherlock in that delightful black shirt which more than made up for any possible shortcomings IMO), HOUND decidedly less and was completely bowled over again by TRF. But though TRF more than made up for the shortcomings of the previous episodes on the whole the intense pleasure at viewing and experiencig was a bit less than the first season with both ASiP and TGG masterful examples of what truly good TV can be. It must be so hard to have made something that good and to have to live with the pressure of millions of people expecting you to outdo it or at least maintain the same high level. Hence my anxiety. I'll try to confirm to your more optimistic outlook though. You're completely right one shouldn't worry when there's no obvious proof yet. :) Thank you.
