Back with a Sherlock review again!

I literally just finished watching it, so I'm still high with it, but I absolutely loved it. It had everything I wanted: a lot of character development, talking about feelings, Sherlock playing the violin, Sherlock being nice to people and most of all to John, Mary being even more awesome than previously assumed, and the case was fascinating and intriguing without being too complicated. It was quite obvious the Major was going to be targeted as soon as they introduced him, but it was the first case where I really, really felt like I was reading one of the original stories. Loved it.

And I even ended up crying too, when everybody else was crying. I didn't get angry at the characters, I didn't feel appalled by some of their actions, didn't experience any of the disappointment of last week. I was happy for them, I fell in love with Mary a bit more, I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to give Sherlock a big hug all through the episode.

Random thoughts! Really loved the directing on this one, how the scenes hopped back and forth in time, always flawlessly. Loved how Mary talked them into spending more time together. I absolutely LOVED John telling Sherlock he's his best friend. Loved that scene with Mrs Hudson talking about her marriage, and her laughter at the telegrams. Didn't even know that was a tradition! To be fair, I've only been at one wedding my whole life: 25 years ago, my uncle and aunt's wedding, I was the ring bearer. I'm as out of touch with it as Sherlock is. :D

I loved how he composed their waltz, and the kid with the pictures had me laughing a lot. Maybe the final revelation was a teensy bit cheesy, but it worked perfectly with the rest of the episode, all happy and loving. I still wish they hadn't done Reichenbach if they were going to be so clumsy about it, shrugging off two years of mourning and grief as no big deal, but I'm glad Sherlock acknowledged it again and apologized again. I'm still convinced they could have played it a lot better, but it's in the past, we have to move on.

Really loved the Mind Palace sequence. Both the interrogation and Mycroft towering over Sherlock. Fantastic image right there. And I was super happy at the stag night sequence. I've never been drunk my whole life, I only know the role of the spectator, so it was really, really funny to watch. Especially loved how they were such lightweights, and Sherlock asking Molly for help, and Lestrade and Mrs Hudson making fun of them. :D That cute app for alcohol intake was the best touch. And the friendship between Sherlock and Mary's bridesmaid, that was adorable!

What worries me is that while we don't know how Mary Morstan dies in the canon, the most favoured theory is that she died in childbirth, and the baby died too. And while I spent the whole episode worried someone was going to shoot her, now I'm super scared they'll just kill her off in the next episode. Besides, the next episode is the only one with the actual villain, so either he'll carry on to the next season, like Moriarty did, or he'll have just a couple of lines. I haven't seen the trailer (not even sure there already is one), so I'm just speculating here.

So, one week left, and it'll already be over. Even considering this is the first time I watched all three episodes on their exact airing date, it still feels like the shortest season yet. And this episode worked perfectly as end of the season, or even end of the series. Really weird they put it in the middle, I'm equal parts excited and scared to see what they have in store for the next one.

Di nuovo, stra-concordo con tutto! Ho adorato l'episodio, in tutti i suoi aspetti!

Il frigorifero incombe sempre, dopo essermelo beccato in Person of Interest ormai me lo aspetto ovunque. =_=

"LSLKAJSAKDFHJKSDHFJKDSHFJKHDF SHERLOCK AKHDKSDHGJKDSHJKFHFKH"

XD

I really, really don't want Mary to die. No need to repeat all of ACD's mistakes. And it would be rather anachronistic for a woman to die in childbirth in 21st century England, don't you think?

By the way, there is a trailer. It looks scary, but very promising. :)

[identity profile] nausicaa83.livejournal.com 2014-01-06 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, but I just read an interview with Moffat from a week ago, and he spouted some more of his misogynistic nonsense, and now I feel like the chances of Mary being fridged have grown exponentially. =_=

While it would be so lovely if they went for a Crime Fighting Trio, instead! Everybody happy and there's jam for tea!

*summons Crowley, again, just in case*

[identity profile] stardust-made.livejournal.com 2014-01-06 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't say Crowley! I had OGAM feels during that episode, with the ghost!! and the drinking out and about!! AND WHY WEREN'T SAM AND DEAN AT THE WEDDING??

[identity profile] nausicaa83.livejournal.com 2014-01-06 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
IT WAS THE MOST OGAM EPISODE EVER.

Dean and Sam should have been at the wedding, dammit!!!!

I'm so totally happy with this episode. After all the bad feelings the first ep gave me this was such a delight from first to last. The drunken deductions and the Rizla game were marvellous.

So, so happy now!

I'm going to pretend the last episode didn't happen (except maybe for the scene at the restaurant, I liked that), and bask in the beauty that was this episode. *__________*

This episode - I LOVED it!!! The case was adorable, everything was adorable, and I loved it so much! The pictures, everything, the speech, everything, I don´t know where to start and where to stop!!! It was so great, great, great!!!

Just needed to tell that!
