That last scene was hilarious! My jaw was hurting from grinning. I think I loved the most Sam's little sound after the whole protection thing. Like it's a sound of 'muh-ugh' of sort - I snorted. And Dean's reactions were priceless, but then they always are.:D
One of my first thoughts at the end was 'Oh, I am looking forward to finding out where Castiel went and how Dean explained to Sam why Cas would have to go.' Because like you say, Sammy won't just let that happen, no questions asked, no opposition. But beyond that - this is Dean and this is Cas. It would take some pretty serious convincing for Sam to believe that his brother is willing to send Cas away.
Gosh, I, too, love seeing Sam being happier and healthier than in a long while. Jared's doing a great job with that as well: Sam is smiling like ALL THE TIME, it seems; it really hit home how long ago in the seasons he used to smile so often. He looks at Dean properly and he actually registers his lame words, whether it's about pie or about the wisdom of this world such as 'It's ain't all burritos and strippers'. I don't even want to think about all the angst that's waiting for him.*wobbly bottom lip* Like I told you about OGAM, I was faithful to canon: whatever beam of sunshine Sammy has in his life, it is there with the sole purpose of making him feel misery even more keenly afterwards.
