nausicaa83: (<life on mars> stay)
A good thing about this crazy hellish weather is that I sleep less, and thus my fandom evenings get longer. This is how I spent last night (with the occasional break to stand a bit under the air conditioning):

There was one lovely moment when Gene Hunt said he loved pink wafers and I squealed "me too, me too!" at the screen. :D

Today a long-awaited package arrived from Amazon:

The first book on the left is actually a gift from my cousin and her boyfriend that I found on the kitchen table when I came back home, because they're adorable, and it deserved a picture. I finished The Ocean At The End Of The Lane in two hours, and let me tell you, it was terrifying. You know those nightmares you get when you're a kid, so real and detailed in all the ways they're gruesome? In other words, think Coraline for adults. I'm so going to sleep with a nightlight tonight. That is, if I manage to fall asleep.

Not to say I didn't like it, I thought it was brilliant, one of his best. But I'm also seriously thinking of putting it in the freezer.

Third and final part here!

We're busy doin' nothin'/Workin' the whole day through/Tryin' to find lots of things not to do )

No cut here because it deserves to be seen by everyone. Behold! The ultimate Cabin Pressure picture! Bonus points if you read it very fast like a caption (Jelly Babies to manual/Talisker-Talisker/Toblerone, I could get him a Toblerone/Attention, mes amis, regardez-vous le bear polar!).

...and now Talisker instructions! )

In conclusion, fantastic journey, superb company, fantastic food, 10/10. ♥
nausicaa83: (<kingdom hearts> tea party)
Another hot, unbearably hot day. What the hell. Tati is here, so it was a great day anyway, but holy crap, will I be happy when this summer is over. Plus that would mean my birthday is coming, so there's that too. :D

As promised, pictures of what we bought today! It's a Nintendo 3DS XL, which is stupidly big, really enormous and far bigger than necessary (actually it's great, but I just had to do that). We gave back her old Nintendo DS and a couple of games, and bought the red one. As soon as it was on, we played a bit of Kingdom Hearts 3D, re-watched our favourite scenes, and the video quality is stunning. ♥

We still haven't named it. Since it's red I suggested Axel or Lea, but that's already her iPod's name, so the jury is still out on that one. My iPod's name is G-ERTI, by the way.

Sherlock here helps us understand how big this console is. It's like two PSPs one on top of the other.

Something adorable happened this morning. I was getting dressed, and she was in the living room waiting for me, and looking at my dvd collection. She called for me, and started asking me "if the actors in this show are still alive today". She was pointing at my Life on Mars boxsets, and as soon as she said it she realized her mistake, and started laughing. She told me they looked so real and so seventies on the covers that she hadn't realized it was that show with John Simm. She thought it was a tv show from the seventies I hadn't told her about. I thought it was so adorable, and such a lovely compliment to the show, that it had to be immortalized here. *_________*

We also tried the Loki tea, but iced. I made two cups, let them rest one hour, then put them in the fridge. Then we drank it with chocolate cookies, while watching Fantasia in the living room. It was good as hot tea, but it's superb as iced tea. We giggled all the way, these teas are so tasty and so related to their characters, it's amazing.

Last but not least, I just recieved an email from ReaperSun, my Wreck fanbook was shipped. I can't wait! My Sherlock bookshelf is growing! \o/

There's probably stuff I should be doing right now, but it's a meme! They're worst than mermaids' songs to me, I just can't say no. Also, I just spilled all the very expensive tube of medicine I bought for my mycosis on the sink, and now I have to buy it again, and I feel really stupid right now.

nausicaa83: (<life on mars> just got here)
Still feeling crazy and excited about this, here's a little update about tv shows and movies, just to keep me away from news sites I've been constantly refreshing for the past two days.

First, I watched Exile, the miniseries with John Simm. Which is the reason I watched it in the first place. It was really good, although I found the ending to be a bit too rushed, I would have liked a few more scenes about the trial, the newspapers' reactions, and so on. I need to stop calling John Simm "Sam", I always do it, even when he's the Master, and that's really awkward.

Next on the list is Mad Dogs, which I still haven't seen, and I have no excuses.

While waiting for the referendum's results yesterday I watched I Am Number Four. It was better than I expected. A teen movie, with nice characters, cheesy villains, and a great action scene right at the ending. It was too much of a prequel, as half of the storylines don't end anywhere, and we're left halfway through the story, but I read there's a second book coming out this summer, so I guess I'll just read that. Number Six was awesome, and by the end I was really confused about why the movie wasn't about her instead of that boring kid who couldn't do anything.

And tomorrow is X Men First Class day! My f-list exploded with this movie, and I managed to avoid all spoilers, I just can't wait to see it. *____*

This has been quite the year for tv series. I've watched a bunch of them, they're truly what anime used to be to me a few years ago.

----

About real life, nothing new happening. I went to the gym, and the funny thing is, while everyone was complaining about the cold, I was standing there in my sleeveless shirt jumping up and down. I was in such a good mood I didn't even feel the cold. :D

I put aside the drumset for a couple of days and started playing Assassin's Creed 2. I spent hours just walking around Florence, picking wallets and jumping on rooftops. The graphics are amazing. Santa Maria del Fiore is unbelievable, and Palazzo della Signoria? Holy frak! It looks so real. And they even put some words from the Tuscany dialect here and there, which make the dialogues even more awesome. XD

I started my anti-allergic cure, and so far I'm really fine. A bit nervous, but that's because of the MRI tomorrow. I woke up early to take the first pill, then set the alarm on my cellphone and managed to get another hour of sleep. I'm really proud of myself. A couple of years ago the idea of getting a MRI, an exam my sister had to take millions of time while I was outside waiting for the bad news, would have taken back all kind of traumas. Right now I'm being mature and calm. Let's see how it goes tomorrow, but so far I'd say I've taken a lot of steps forward. ^^

After breakfast I sat on the couch and finished my Life on Mars marathon. One more time with feeling: after Ashes to Ashes every little detail makes perfect sense. Amazing. I can't believe they already had it all planned in their minds down to every line. And I still got teary-eyed at the ending. I just *love* this show.

Since my aunt is coming this afternoon (hooray!!!), I'll wait until thursday to start on Ashes to Ashes. Until then, it's family time. *_____*

It's been a quiet, boring couple of days. It's cloudy, and sometimes it rains too, and with my period and all, I spend an awful lot of time curled up on the couch drinking hot tea. That gave me a good excuse to start a Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes marathon. Watching it after the A2A ending, everything makes so much sense! Plus, I'm falling in love with it all over again. God, I love this show.

What else? My MRI is next tuesday, and my aunt is coming on monday. Since I'm probably allergic to the contrast agent, I'll have to take tons of pills on monday and get a shot early on tuesday, so I'll probably spend all of next week sound asleep. Good news is, I only have to do it once, and then see you all next year. ^^

Since wedding is the last thing on my mind, and if I do have a wedding it'll be a very very private thing with 5 guests tops, I don't think there'll be any dancing involved. Anyway, I just discovered this amazing song (like, yesterday), so let's say I want the band at my very unlikely wedding to play Bring On The Wonder by Susan Enan.

It's a Life On Mars//Ashes to Ashes video, the best one out there, no kidding, but it has spoilers for the finale, watch it only if you don't care being spoiled, or if you have already seen the final episode.

Tomorrow we're planning to go to the beach (and get the sand through our feet), but I have a bad feeling about the weather. It looks like it's about to rain, and even though the sun is warm, the wind is cold. We'll see. Plus yesterday I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 6 am, no alarm clock involved. And I feel perfectly fine. Weird body is weird.
