nausicaa83: (<hobbit> going on an adventure)
We're back! Tati and I went to Florence for three days, to see Mumford & Sons in concert. The adorable [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko was our host, and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] juuhachi_go joined us. We had the most wonderful time, and I took a lot of pictures! And I fangirled like the rabid Assassin's Creed fangirl that I am, because forget years of classical studies, the important thing is I climbed these monuments with Ezio Auditore. :D

I'm a hopeless wanderer//I will learn, I will learn to love the sky I wander. )

I did a bit of shopping and got a birthday gift too, but I'll post pictures tomorrow. Today I have episodes to watch, my favourite fics have updated, it's going to be a busy sunday. ;)
nausicaa83: (<supernatural> shake your tail feathers)
Fourth day of the antibiotic therapy, and I'm not having any side effects, the stupid period arrived precise as clockwork, and everything is working perfectly. Yes! This cycle ends on sunday, then I have to wait three weeks before starting another one.

I started the fourth sequence on Assassin's Creed III today, and I finally met Connor. I absolutely loved that they all talk in their language, instead of weirdly-accented English. Yep, I'm still cringing over Ezio's accent. I wouldn't have wanted them to talk in Italian for the whole game, just to eliminate that horrible accent, that's all. It's a-me, Mario. *shudders*

Today they also wrote me to tell me a package I ordered two months ago from the US was blocked at the border, and I had to send all kinds of personal info and description of the contents to customs. On the phone they told me it happens from time to time, but I felt as helpless as Arthur and his sort-of-a-cake. Hope they can fix it soon and I can finally get my poor package.

Now that I'm part of a choir again I have homework. I spent a good hour this afternoon doing my chores while listening to this Miserere on my iPod and singing the same part over and over again. I wonder what I looked like from outside; miiiiii-seeeee-re-REee-nowaitthatsaD-EEEeeEEEE mmmmmeeee-yeathatsthenote-eeEEEIIII. :D

Speaking of music, yesterday on twitter Richard Armitage chose Master & Servant as 'Depeche Mode song most suited for Thorin'. I therefore spent my whole evening bumping fists in the air and doing funny little dances singing excerpts of the song to the cat. This play between the sheets/With you on the top/And me underneath/Forget all about equality/Let's play Master and Servant, it sounds like a very kinky Bagginshield fic. I'm such a happy fangirl right now. :D
nausicaa83: (<assassin's creed> jump!)
I had sort of a fight with my oncologist yesterday. I was supposed to start on this antibiotic therapy, but I'm already taking some other meds, so he and my doctor consulted and gave me these "sort of toxic, but you're young, so no worries" pills. I wasn't sure how many I was supposed to take daily, so I called him again and asked him. He was surprised I didn't know, and when I also added that it was the week of my period, and asked him if it was okay if I started this therapy now, he told me "well, of course, you HAVE to, otherwise it's dangerous". After a speechless minute, I asked him how I was supposed to know that, and then he went very quiet and told me he had forgotten I wasn't a doctor, and apologized.

This mix-up actually happens to me a lot, because my mom was a doctor and I grew up in hospitals, so I have a good knowledge of the stuff and use medical terms often (to my therapist's great amusement). But I'm still an ignorant person who doesn't have a degree in medicine. I'm a normal patient, completely ignorant of the matter, for fuck's sake! Thankfully I thought of asking him, because I worry a lot and fixate on every detail, but if I had been a little more trustful or distracted I could have seriously hurt myself with the wrong therapy. Terrific.

Anyway, apologies accepted very grudgingly, I started this therapy on schedule, and so far I'm having no side effects whatsoever. I'm still angry about this misunderstanding, so I decided to start Assassin's Creed III because it's been sitting there for months and I wanted to relax by going on a killing spree. I just finished Haytham's sequences, and after falling utterly in love with him I got that bucket-of-cold-water-in-the-face final scene, what the hell, I was not expecting that at all! I ended up with a couple of bugs too, as I had been warned (one of the guys I killed turned into a cooked spaghetti monster), and I'm surprised the missions are already very hard at this point of the game. I hate being stealthy, and quite enjoy throwing myself at guards and start massacring around, but so far it's been only stealthy missions with very suspicious officials, and I had to re-do them multiple times before I got them right. Can't wait to have more weapons at my disposal at least.
nausicaa83: (<disney> merida)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! I used to celebrate it every year with my family, we loved spooky stuff. And pumpkins. And Tim Burton. :D The super secret project for my home is going nice and steady, and should be finished next week, I can't wait to post some pictures here.

Look what I got in the mail today! It's not my fault, it's Amazon's fault! They charge three pounds for a book! I'm weak!

For those who missed the specific entry, watch Moone Boy. Download it, buy it, stream it, it's SO BEAUTIFUL. You'll thank me. Then there's Birdy's debut album, since I had almost all songs in various fanmixes, and loved them all. I can't believe she's half my age. And a bunch of books recommended by many friends both on LJ and on Tumblr. Watership Down is there because the movie traumatized me as a kid (I had nightmares for weeks, scared my parents a lot), and I want to get over that trauma and enjoy a beautiful book. I saw it quoted on a couple of beautiful Teen Wolf gifsets, and decided it was time to face the past and the rabbits from Elm Street. :D

Most important of all, the Sherlock calendar is here! It's even better than in the pictures, I love it! \o/

This morning I bought Assassin's Creed III, but I'll have to wait until next week to play it. I had a weird experience in the store, there were a bunch of customers in line before me, all there to buy the same game, and they were all men. The cashier recognized me and greeted me when I came in, so everyone turned around and looked at me bug-eyed, as if it was absurd for a girl to be there to buy an Assassin's Creed game. Weird as hell, because it's the first time ever I've been treated differently for being a girl gamer. No one was rude, of course, but they looked at me like I'd just sprout wings. Weird.

I'm having a really great time with my aunt, I missed this so much. ♥

I'M BACK FROM VERONA! Well, I came back a few hours ago, on an early train, but since then I've been sleeping, with Sakura alternatively curled up in my arms or munching my hands. I had two wonderful days with [livejournal.com profile] harriet_yuuko and [livejournal.com profile] juuhachi_go, and what a great concert, Mumford & Sons live are something else! This way for the pictures:

As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts//Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms. )

I'm already looking forward to the next concert! \o/ Such a wonderful experience, and the company was even more magical than the music itself. I love you, girls! ♥

Just got back from therapy, it was the first time in three weeks, we had so much to talk about. I saved some stories for next time, because one hour wasn't enough for all the stuff that happened. I feel so much better right now, though. Even if my stupid right shoe cut my feet, and when I took it off at home I was bleeding. It still counts as an awesome day!

Yesterday we had the second season finale of Game of Thrones, and I sobbed all the way. I usually cry at season finales, but it's little tears, while this time I sobbed like with The Walking Dead 2x07. Wonderful episode, but my poor heart. Tyrion and Shae are so much my OTP it physically hurts.

On other fandom news, they revelead the identity of the main character of the Assassin's Creed III game for PSVita, and it's a black woman. I was so happy I literally stood up and did a little dance all around the room. Even if now I have a new console to buy, what with already having to buy the Nintendo 3DS in July because of Kingdom Hearts, I don't care. It's a black woman, and she's the main character, and she's an assassin. I'm already in love, and I only saw 30 seconds of gameplay.

We're still having some little earthquakes: minor shakes, I don't even feel most of them. I woke up yesterday morning at 6 because the bed was lightly shaking, and we felt a minor one during therapy today too, but nothing serious. I know it's a good thing, because the ground is releasing the tension, instead of accumulating it, but it's really getting old. Everyone is on edge, I can't wait for the whole business to be over.

Yay, LJ is working again! I'm starting to wonder if the LJ team uses the words "DDoS attack" when they mean "we messed something up". That, or Russian hackers have lots of time on their hands. Anyway! List of good things that happened while LJ was on holiday:

- my aunt arrived!
- I bought new earrings, they're little sparkly stars, very adorable.
- tomorrow I'll get my hair cut, and dye it too, so I'll take pictures of said haircut and earrings and maybe my Assassin's Creed sweater too and post them here. :D
- speaking of which, I'm getting really good at the AC Revelations multiplayer. My cousin will be proud.
- I bought the latest Professor Layton game (And the Last Spectre), and it's amazing! It's harder than the previous ones though, I got stuck on a few puzzles that made me curse a lot.

So, even if my favourite shows are plotting to get me down (seriously, what's going on? Angst everywhere I look), it's one really happy week here. :D

Had a great day. I went to Padova to go shopping with some friends, and we took a long walk downtown, checked a lot of stores, and enjoyed the perfect weather. I bought two pjs, I really needed winter ones as I only had spring ones left, and adding blankets on the bed just didn't cut it. They're both pink and warm, very cute. ^^

We went to the Disney Store too, and there I had a very weird exchange with one of the guys working there. He noticed I had an Assassin's Creed book in my bag (The Secret Crusade, with Altair right on the cover), and the dialogue went like this:

"An Assassin's Creed book? My, you must have bought that for me!"
"Wait, have you already played the latest game? Wouldn't want to spoil anything"
"Latest game?"
"The one that came out last week? But of course you must tell me, are you more of a Altair or a Ezio fan?"

*growing more and more embarassed* "Well, actually, I'm not that good at playing it..."
"How so? Once you get used to the right counterattack measures with your hidden blade, and get the osmosis quite right you'll do those leaps of faith like there's no tomorrow"

At that he slowly walked away, apologizing and having obviously no idea what I was talking about.

Hey, I'm not against the idea of guys trying to pick me up in a store, but if you're going to use Assassin's Creed as your opening line then you must know what you're talking about, or I'll crush your confidence into smithereens. Just saying.

Man, I'm so evil. My friends got a huge laugh out of that though.

Man, we're so evil.

nausicaa83: (<assassin's creed> killing with awesome)
Hi guys, I'm back! Where have I been? But playing Assassin's Creed Revelations, of course! I finished it ten minutes ago, and my brain is still trying to process it. Maybe because I spent most of the weekend playing it and may or may not have damaged my brain, you know. But it was awesome! And so full of revelations, indeed. Anyone wants to talk about it, I'm here. So many questions answered, and so many new questions. And I have a gazillion new favourite characters, I don't even know where to start.

I wonder if the next game will have another huge city, or a few smaller cities like AC2. Personally, my favourite is still AC2, mostly because there were different cities and different settings to explore. A huge city like Rome or Istanbul is great, but after a while it gets a bit boring. Wonderful graphics, though, the colours were incredible, and so real. And they improved everything, even fighting takes a lot more strategy.

And now, off we go to the gym! Hope I won't walk into a mirror or something, I still feel a bit ditzy. ^^"

It looks like LiveJournal is finally working. I hope so, I tried to update my journal eight times before giving up yesterday, and I could leave comments only on a few entries. I missed you guys!!!

News from the last few days!

I just printed all the papers for my flight to Rhodes next week, and I'm so excited I can't sit still. I spent the last two days at Tati and we watched Inception together, and she loved it, even with me spinning Cobb's totem everywhere humming Non Je Ne Regrette Rien all the time. How does she put up with me, I have no idea.

The Ao No Exorcist anime is great, and it's the first anime I've watched in a year, maybe more, it's a beautiful feeling. It's very fluid, the voices are spot on, the music is haunting. Great job.

My cousin discovered the Assassin's Creed multiplayer, and she's awesome at it. It's very fun to watch, you have to kill someone before some other character jumps out from nowhere and stabs you in the back, all while running around beautiful new settings. I would so suck at it, everytime I'm in a new location I spend the first half an hour sightseeing. :D

I'm organizing all the XMFC fics I bookmarked and planning on doing a recs post when all this madness is finally over.
